I think it would be great for people who are not familiar with photo editing programs that want to upload their digicam photos.  A lot of the time people will take photos at the highest res and not understand how big the photo really is.  (Res size and File size)

For example, on my photo album I would like to set the max res to 800x600.  If people want to upload their 2048x1536 photos they will be rejected.  If coppermine could resize the image to the max allowable res (scale down) before assessing whether it is acceptable, then it would be great.

Thank-you.

In other words you're requesting an admin-settable feature to delete the original sized pics after the intermediate and thumb have been created during the upload process. I've already considered this option for a future version, might solve lots of trouble with newbie users and site owners...

Yes, that's right.  I use the phpnuke version of coppermine and I thought it would be a neat feature to include.

check the changelog of future versions. There's no such thing as a newsletter you can subscribe to yet.

I actually think this is a very good idea to incorporate standard into CPG 1.3.0...
A lot of people don't have unlimited disk space on their server and having both intermediate and original size images on the server eats disk space as well...

Joachim Müller

will not be in cpg1.3.0 (we agreed on a feature freeze when the language files went out to the translators), but will be one of the top priority features on my list for the next version (after 1.3).
