My gallery is set on classic theme (meganandlizfans.com/cpg14x) and I want to get a banner on top of it such as the one on t-swift.com/pictures. How would I go about doing that?

by searching the board and reading the docs and FAQ as explain in the board rules, you had probably found many answer..
Most of the design modifs are to do in the template.html file from your theme. But as explain in the doc, if you are creating your custom theme, do it on a copy of the classic theme and rename it.http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#theme_create
