Hi

I hope someone can help me with this two problems because I am clueless.  I already read the docs and searched the board but what I've found didn't really help me (unless I missed a sticky).

I've been getting weird user registrations which turn out to be some sort of spam, like words and arrows.  I read that this might be some type of crawlers and that they are checking to see just how much a registered user can do.  I've put registration and comment as admin approvals so I've been able to detect exactly which users there are.  I haven't blocked them with IPs because i know they can simply change IP, or their email.  What can I do to protect the gallery from them?  I don't have a link with an example because I erased the last ones since they are cumbersome.

This is my link: http://www.christinebaranski.fansites.me/cpg14x/index.php

I just read the 'how to prevent spam and bad robots without captcha' but I'm not sure if any of those would help me.

What's wrong with implementing Captcha?
BTW you need to upgrade - you're running cpg1.4.21, while the most recent stable release currently is cpg1.4.25

I can't seem to be able to find the captcha settings in the configuration tabs.  Can you direct me to a link where this has been posted, in case I missed it as well!

If I upgrade, will I lose the codding that I currently have?

So obviously a newbie here  :P

The best thing newbies and older-bees can do is read the docs and search the support forum. Saves time and electrons

You must follow the preceding advice to upgrade before doing anything else!
