Impossible to move <image> to albums/userpics/ !

Hello! I tried to tweak xp_publish.php to let non-admin users upload pictuers too, didn't work. I tried to tweak db_input.php to make the pictures resize automatically on upload, and since then I'm getting errors like this on uploads:

Impossible to move liga-05.jpg to albums/userpics/ !

File: /var/www/web3/html/gallery/db_input.php - Line: 259

I reverted back the changes, actually uploading the original CPG 1.2.1 files but the problem now stays...
The albums/userpics/ worked before and is chmodded to 777, so I don't really understand what the problem is.

What can I do? I'm screwed!

i think i'm getting this error when the file size is bigger than the limit... strange though that i get this error...
