White screen no update page.

I downloaded 1.5.6 and unzipped and uploaded to server with filezilla. Then tried running update.php and received a white page.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have done the above twice and still no luck. I then reinstalled my backup and everything works as expected but when I reinstall 1.5.6 files I get the white page when I try to run update.php

Fixed by updating theme. Was using a theme not included in 1.56 and this caused the white screen once I installed the new theme issue resolved.
