Hello,

Currently helping a client out with Coppermine. Everything has worked absolutely fine up until recently. I'm not sure if it's a SQL error, but it's definitely not outputting anything in the error logs so I can't see what the problem is.

Basically, every time she batch adds some files, duplicates appear... It's something that I've tried myself and can reproduce every time. Any ideas??

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

The link you give goes to the 1.4.x line of Coppermine and you have posted in the 1.5.x area of the forums. Moving accordingly.

Additionally, you are running a few versions behind so you will need to upgrade before we can help you. Upgrading may even fix your problem.

Your version is - <!--Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.4.25 (stable)-->

I upgraded and not only did it break my theme but also wouldn't allow any users to see any files if I added a password unless I made the entire site public. Really odd.

Okay, well thank you for your help etc, I will do everything I can to get it sorted.

If you upgraded properly to 1.4.27 then it should not break your theme. If you tried to upgrade to 1.5.x then you need to upgrade your  theme too as per the docs.

The problem is fixed now, the upgrade worked.

Really sorry for the hassle, your coppermine site design (coppermine-gallery.net) doesn't make it very clear that there are alternative versions to download other than the latest version.

Heh, that's probably me just being a picky ux guy.

That is because we are trying to push the new 1.5.x line. At some time in the not too distant future we will lay the 1.4.x version to rest in peace. At that time we will withdraw support for it. It has been a good and valued friend but has now been superceeded and with such a small team we cannot support 2 versions for long. What I suggest for you is to make a copy of your live site and run it on your desktop using a tool such as wamp (google it). Then try the upgrade to 1.5.x and work on your theme. Once you have it working you can make the jump on your live site safe in the knowledge that you know how.

Thanks for coming back and resolving your thread.

Ah I see, I suppose it's all progressive rather than regressive. To be honest, I'm doing this for a client that may be upgrading her entire site to a CMS in the near future, so for the time being I don't think it's worth setting up a local copy of the site. Just as a note, I'm a front-end developer so I use MAMP every day.

You're welcome for coming back, I was active on a forum not dissimilar to this one and there's nothing more annoying than people not coming back to say "problem solved".

Apologies for not reading the documentation, was in a bit of a rush!!
