Hi,

I'm trying to make a site with just one album where you basically go register, can upload images to this single album, and that's it.

No multiple albums/categories, no personal/private upload space, nothing like that. I can't figure it out! Either it seems to be set so they user can make their own album, which I don't want, or it's set so they don't have permission to upload anything.

Anyone know what to do to sort it out? It seems stupidly confusing for what it is, or maybe that's just cos it's nearly 3am.

  • log in as admin
  • admin mode
  • In coppermine config, set "Users can have private albums" to yes.
  • create the one album users are supposed to upload to
  • click on "groups" in the admin menu and set "Can upload files" to yes for the group "Registered" (remember to hit "apply modifications" to save your changes)
  • go to the index page
  • next to the album thumbnail, click on "properties"
  • Set "Visitors can upload files" to yes (click "Update album" to save)

And to stop users having teir own album, go into groups, and turn 'can have personnal album' to NO.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Hello again, thanks for the replies.

I got up to...

go to the index page
next to the album thumbnail, click on "properties"

... but I can't see any "properties" button next to the album thumbnail? I'm usiing 1.2.1 if that changes anything? If so, what version were you talking about?

Casper

All versions.  You have to be in 'admin mode' to see the admin buttons.  See the link in the menu?
Note, you have to be logged in as admin to see the link.
