Hi,

I spent considerable effort implementing my project with Coppermine.
There were over 2000 files, in more then a hundred categories and albums.
A functional business construct and open Build interface both.

I decided to upgrade to 1.5.8.
Then, in a series of errors and mishaps, I lost everything.
The only thing I have left is the database file.

I would really like to erect a type of 'Ghost',
availing me the raw structure and most of all,
the album and file descriptions.
Even a delineated ascii would do.
Is there precedent to such recovery?

I am seeing the crash as an opportunity to implement
some custom features right from the start,
and will post about this in the 'paid help' forum.

Simply restore that file with phpmyadmin. Please don't forget to include a link to your gallery (which seems to be http://www.earthsystemmatter.com/Done ) as requested by board rules.

Hi!
I think we misunderstand.
I lost all the album files, there is no backup.

That I install another Gallery and start over,
is another issue from recovering the image descriptions,
and an overview of the overall form.  I put many, many hours into this build, and now am in a bit of desperate situation.
To seek the necessary funding to continue, such a 'Ghost' would be the best way to present what I have done, even without the images.
I know that may seem strange, but the structural form was foundational.

Do you have a local copy of your files? If yes, and if they are stored in a logical folder structure, you can quickly add them to your gallery with the Mass import plugin. You'll of course need to manually add image descriptions unless you've stored them in the iptc data of your images.

What do you mean by a ghost?

Ps. Don't forget that the database file (if you mean by that a backup of your database) includes all file names, image descriptions, number of views, your gallery's settings, etc

Yes, thanks!

So I now have both the database file and the files back together.
Do you think you want to help me put it back up?
I am in a very limited situation, with time-money and internet access both.

It shouldn't be that difficult. If the images are still on the server (check with ftp), you'll only need to restore the database file with phpmyadmin. If not, you'll need to upload them first by ftp using the same file/folder names before your gallery crashed. Otherwise, login to your hosting provider's control panel, locate phpmyadmin, find the database used by CPG and click on the import link (and allow phpmyadmin to delete existing entries). Ask your hosting provider for more details about phpmyadmin or check its manual.
