No, it uses a generic thumbnail.  You can have a read of this thread though, http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=6450.0
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

It may not make the thumbnails but it looks like you can specify thumbnails for each video.
