Theme upgrade question

Hi,

I use 1.4.18 version of coppermine en than the classic theme for it, with lot's of altered things in it for visualisation.

I want to upgrade to the newest version of coppermine.

Question : Can i use the old altered theme from the older version (just copy it) or do i have to alter the new version theme classic.
