Greetings to all. I have been using Coppermine under WAMP for some months and loving this product. I have uploaded hundreds of pics etc to my intranet for my family, but I have ran into a problem that I hope there is an answer for.

I have several thousand font faces TTF etc, and would love to include them as Coppermine makes things so easy to distribute.

Has someone made a True type plugin and a FON plugin. Been hunting for ages with no luck.

I do have other font cataloguing software, but would love to centralise all my graphics to one product.

Kind regards to all

I don't know what that plugins should do. If you want to upload those file types to your gallery, have a look at that thread: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,73426.msg353561.html#msg353561

timsage

Bit confused by your reply.

I am looking for a Coppermine plugin that will let me catalogue my ttf collection.

Also do the admins have to really expect us to jump through all these hoops to post anything. This is a specialist board not some noddy anything goes board, so the catchpa at very most would suffice, but we are registered users.

Also being visually impaired, this is a very unfair thing to force onto registered users.

Regards

Tim

Again: what feature do you miss in the stock Coppermine gallery? What exactly should this plugin do?

timsage

OK I will spell this out in plain English as who ever is replying to me seems to be clueless to this simple request.

I WANT COPPERMINE TO BE ABLE TO CATALOGUE MY FONTS JUST THE SAME AS IT CATALOGUES MY PICTURES. JPG BMP FOR EXAMPLE.

BUT I WANT IT TO CATALOGUE F O N T S, WITH THE .TTF OR .FON EXTENSION

Is this more clear, and understandable.

Sorry for my frustration but I reallt thought this question was very simple and clear in the beginning.

Now I have to jump through these blasted hoops again just to post this.

Please Admin dump all this utter childish rubbish at the bottom. I use SMF and there is no need.

Maybe it's too obvious what the actual issue is, but I still don't know why you need a plugin for your project. You're requesting a plugin, in my opinion you don't need a plugin.

If you want to add .ttf and .fon files to your gallery,

You have to add the file type to the database if it doesn't exist (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,59917.0.html) and then add it to the allowed image document types (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/configuration.htm#admin_picture_thumb_advanced_doc_extensions).

Instead of shouting you should describe what exactly doesn't work at the moment.

timsage

I shout as those who read - can not do so.

When I want to up-load files with a TTF Extension, Coppermine states that they are NOT RECOGNISED, but bmp, jpg, gif etc are.

Thus if Coppermine can not recognise True type files in their native format, then I guess the only obvious answer would be a plug-in so Coppermine can handle/recognise/understand FONTS.

So to end all this, might I request that you, yourself, create an album, and try/attempt to upload FONTS Tyue type FONTS using the bulk up loader and the single file up loader and then you-yourself can explain to me-myself just what the problem is, as Me-Myself seem rather puzzled at my inability to use the queens English in a structured format that other individuals can comprehend.

Αndré

I just uploaded a .ttf file to my test gallery successfully. It works exactly as I already described twice.

timsage

Well, seeing as there is no section for ttf, and I have tried placing it in all the following sections, I feel a bit confused that you have success. Perhaps you can tell me where exactly I have gone wrong. I have looked at all the coppermine information, and I see nothing what-so-ever to confirm that coppermine will handle "Fonts" out of the box. I can therefore assume that you have in some way modded something to handle true type fonts. Perhaps you can put me out of my confusion

It won't, as I already said. So here my third and last try: use this plugin to add the file types to your database and then add them to the Allowed document types.

timsage

Thanks for this, but as usual, you love to live on the cryptical side of things

I already have this plugin, but what are the settings

File extension (lower case, no dot):   =   ttf
MIME type (must be valid):      =   image/ttf
Content type            =   Document
Associated Player                  =   No Player

I have no idea if the above settings are correct.

Have you already tested it? I used
application/octet-stream
as ttf mime type, as that was the first result I got by using my favorite search engine.

timsage

I do seem to get confused by your replys, but I have managed to get something to work.

I can now get it to recognise my fonts, but rather than display an image of the font type, so I can see what it looks like, it just shows a sort of square box.

Hod do I get it to display what the font looks like.

Thanks for your help so far

Either you create a thumbnail manually (= on your local computer) and assign it with the help of the "Custom Thumbnail" plugin or you have to create a new plugin that generates automatically a thumbnail for True Type fonts.

timsage

Got In Himmel

This is like ever decreasing circles.

I do not know if you are trying to really mess me about, or that your English grammar is lacking in basic comprehension, but from the onset of this request I made mention of my need for a blasted plugin, and all the time there you were Andre, acting as if some supercilious individual who was extracting some perverse pleasure in dragging this who matter out as long as you possibly could.

Perhaps someone else out there could step up here and offer some real advice.

As a new member of this board, ans a new user to Coppermine, so far my experience of this user is nothing less than useless.

You failed to describe what exactly you try to accomplish. I don't know how you or your font cataloging software organize your fonts.

I already told you what you have to do if you want to add custom file types in my very first reply. You're now able to add those file types.

You're now wondering why no thumbnails will be created. The answer is simple: Coppermine was initially designed as picture gallery and fonts are no pictures. However, it's technically possible (if your server has freetype support) to generate thumbnails for True Type fonts with some coding effort.

If you think I'm too stupid to understand your holy queen's English start a new thread in the German support board (which is my native language). You've insulted me long enough and thus disqualified yourself by getting support from me. Maybe someone else is able and/or willing to help you for free in his/her spare time.

timsage

The initial reply was rather ambiguous

As for my cataloguing software this is irrelevant as it was not a question about that product. But for the point, it is Thumbs Plus. This catalogues anything and creates its own web page.

I just wanted Coppermine to do the same so I could keep everything in one place

I wanted Coppermine to generate a snap of the font, for example ABCDEFG etc, then make a ling to open it.

I think I will not bother with this idea until someone at Coppermine makes this a standard feature.
