Does cpg create core.####(4 digits) files in the root directory?

I am using cpg for over a year now, and I have now observed that there are several core.####(4 digits) files in the root directory dated August 2011. I can't open the files as they seems to have no proper extension. All 24 files are of 2.77 MB. All were created on same day within a span of 1 hour.

On the other hand I do have SQL issues. I had deleted the SQL Admin account accidentally, so had to create another one and update info in config.inc.php, but I can not update user accounts any longer. Is that suspected?

No, the only file that is created (only during installation) is the file include/config.inc.php.
