I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and SMF 2.0.5:
"You don't have permission to access this page."

Coppermine install: http://inkscapecommunity.com/ic_gallery
Bridging app install: http://forum.inkscapecommunity.com
Coppermine version: cpg1.5.24
Bridging app version: SMF 2.0.5, with Tiny Portal 1.107
Test user account: don't have one yet, not sure how to set up, see below please

BridgeManager settings:
Bridge app URL:  http://mysite.tld/test/foo_bar (I don't understand how this should be different from http://forum.inkscapecommunity.com.  However, Bridge Manager did not ask for this.)
Relative path to your bridge app's config file:  ../forum/
Cookie name or prefix:  forum  (The Bridge Manager does not ask me for cookie info.)
Use bridge app custom groups?:  1

Here's what happens.  After I click Finish, to enable the bridging, I get the same page, except the Finish and Back buttons are gone, and instead there's a "Start bridging wizard" button.  It seems like nothing has happened.  But when I go to Users > Group, I get the "You don't have permission to access this page." error.  When I click Login, I get my forum's login page.  But after I'm logged in, there's no gallery there, or any new Gallery tab.  It's just my forum (portal).

I've tried the steps for "Recover from failed bridging" in the manual.  But when I enter http://inkscapecommunity.com/ic_gallery/bridgemgr.php, it does not take me to a login page, as the manual indicates.  It just shows me the 1st Bridge Manager page that I started with.  So it seems that I am unable to switch off the integration.

I don't know how to create a test user for you, assuming that means an unbridged gallery user, since I can't undo the failed bridge.  If you can tell me how, I'll do that right away.  However, I can give you a test forum user, if that would help.

I'm not sure what might have gone wrong.  I was very confused about the relative path, which is asked for in the Bridge Manager.  Since my forum is on forum.inkscapecommunity.com subdomain, there isn't an example for that, in the manual where it explains how to write the relative path.  In the part of the manual where it tells you where to install the gallery, to make a successful bridge, it gives examples of the file path from the webroot.  So it did look to me like I had it set up according to the file path.  But I'm also quite confused about how subdomains are indicated as far as the file path.  (For example, forum.inkscapecommunity.com seems to be the same as webroot/forum.  But webroot/ic_gallery (same level in the file structure) is at inkscapecommunity.com/ic_gallery, which is not a subdomain.)

Anyway, in summary, I can't seem to switch off the integration, in order to start all over.  And once I do that, and try again, I'm not sure if the relative path was wrong, or if there is some other problem.

Thank you very much  :)

That's of course nonsense. However, as you're currently not able to disable the bridging via the bridge manager, please have a look at your Coppermine database with a tool like phpMyAdmin. Open the config table, find bridge_enable and set it to 0.

Thanks Andre  :)

Ok, I did that, and it does look like the gallery is now unbridged.  So I'm back where I started.  But I'm still not sure what I did wrong.

Do you need the test user account to help me with that?

Αndré

It should work as expected if you follow the bridging docs. Make sure to insert valid data. If it again doesn't work, we need to look closer at your issue.

Hhmm, well unfortunately, I've gone through the wizard again, with the exact same results.  I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, other than the areas that I mentioned in my previous message, where I'm confused.

So I once again have a faulty bridge.  Should I go to My PHP Admin again, like before, and set it back to unbridged?

Thanks again  :)

That sounds like a successful bridge to me. Again from the bridging docs:
QuoteBridging does not integrate your gallery and the application you bridge with in terms of visual appearance. If you want a seamless visual integration, create a custom theme for your gallery that matches the look of your bridge app or your overall site and add links pointing from Coppermine's navigation to your bridge app and vice versa.

Please create a test user account in your SMF board and post the credentials so we can test if the bridge works as expected.

Well, maybe it is bridged, I don't know.  But when I click on Groups, I still get the same error message about not having permission.  When I click Login, I get the forum's login page.  When I login, it shows me the forum (portal).  Next I browse to the gallery, where it shows that I am not logged in.  When I click Login, I get the forum's login page, etc., etc., etc.

I've tried logging in with both the forum pw and the gallery pw, but neither actually log me in to the gallery.  I still haven't gotten the Groups integrated.

Here's a new member acount for the forum.

username:  ranger
pw:  wts7b4jARa

Thanks again  :)

Please again read the bridging docs to understand what exactly bridging does. If your gallery is bridged, your "gallery pw" won't work, as Coppermine uses the board's user database while bridged. If the gallery shows that you're not logged in, it's obvious why you get the permissions error message.

However, I just used your test user account and it works as expected for me, i.e. I'm also logged in at the gallery. Please log out with any user account (or even better, delete all cookies which are assigned to your domain) and try again with the test user account - it should work.

brynn

Aahhhh, finally!

I logged out, deleted cookies, then logged back in.  Now finally, when I clicked Groups, I got the Group Manager.  So it looks like I'm back in business.

Thank you very much  ;D

Hi,

I found this searching for a solution for what might be the same issue. I suppose it could be a problem of understanding, but I just can't figure it out, no matter how often I go through this discussion and the bridging manual... I hope someone can help me out.

I am trying to bridge my new coppermine gallery to my existing simplemachines forum (v2.0.4). I suppose if successful, the useres of the forum can login to the new gallery with their same login-data (since gallery would use the smf-user-db) or even be allready loged in the gallery if they are loged in the forum and access gallery (using cookies).

But when I try to login at the gallery it sends me straigt tot he login of the forum, no matter if I am allready loged in there. If I login at the forum again, I end up in the forum. If I switch backt tot he gallery, I am still not logged in. Loop. Erasing cookies while logged out of both does not change anything.

After going through the bridge wizard and hitting the ,,finish"-button is no confimation of success nor fail, the ,,finish" and ,,back" buttons just disappear and the ,,start bridging wizard" button is back, still showing ,,Your bridge settings". Maybe this is how it should be, but seems a bit odd.

My Setup looks like this:
Forum path: domain.com/forum
Gallery path: domain.com/gallery

My bridge settings
Relative path to your bridge app's config file:          ../gallery/
Use bridge app custom groups?:             0
Enable integration/bridging with Simple Machines (SMF) 2.x   disable

Thanks for reading, and if someone has an idea what I am not getting, also thanks for any hint to the right direction...
Boris

PS: I would really not feel comfortable posting a public link to my forum and a user login. Anyone interested in helping will of course be provided via private message. Hope you understand... Thanks again!

I may not be the best person to answer this.  But 2 things appear to be different about your situation, compared to mine.  One is "Relative path to your bridge app's config file:".  I think the forum is the bridge app.

And the other "Use bridge app custom groups?:"  Mine was set to 1 and yours is set to 0.  I actually don't remember what 0 and 1 mean, at the moment.  But something else for you to look at, at least  :)

Hey, thanks for the answer!

The first thing ist absolutely a source of error, but I just got confused with all the settings I tried... with the relative path set to ../gallery/ there was an error right away, telling me about the missing setup.php.

The second thing about the custom groups I also tried both ways. But for my understanding it should not be a source of error, since it just seems to define if the custum groups of the bridge app are being used (1) or else the "normal" groups of coppermine (0).

Still thanks for helping!
Boris
