Thumbnail size and good looking

I really hope that someone can help me with my problem.
I use coppermine as gallery and I have a problem with thumbnails size, I wanted to change them because I've installed copperminesc, I wanted them to look all the same size so I went in the Thumbnail settings> Use dimension> exact and choose width and height. When I saved the canges the thumbnails weren't in a great looking. I tried and tried, get the suggestion to do this: admin tools> update thumbnails and/or resized photos> only thumbnails and at the end I've got this result:

As you can see the thumbnails aren't all in the same size and then they don't fix, I mean in one people looks skinny and tall and in another one they looks short and large. I'd love to have a resoult like this:

I hope you understand me since I don't even know how to explain my problem. I also hope that someone can help me,I've tried to read coppermine documentation, but it doens't give me the solution and I'm desperated. Thank you

I assume you've reverted the thumbnail settings, as your thumbnails aren't distorted, but don't have the same size as desired.

Please upgrade your gallery, as you're running some versions behind

(latest version is currently cpg1.5.30).

Then, again set the thumbnail dimensions to "exact", re-create all thumbnails in the admin tools and when it has finished, clear your browser cache.
