In my site I find and post pics from all over the net, I only get time to post them on Sunday.  So new pics are only added one day in seven.

What I would like is a mod that allows me to post anything between 5-50 posts at once and then have them show up in the new pic gallery at a set time (like one every 5 hours)   7 days X 24 hours = 168 hours  / 30 pics = 5.6 hours

That would allow me to post once a week yet draw people in to the site repeatedly through out the week, increasing the traffic to the site and making it feel more 'live'  Also, it would not overwhelm them as much as going and finding 30 pics at one hit.

This mod would help others that are going on vacation since they could preset their site to keep actively posting even though they are gone, and to be able to post large numbers of pics at once without losing some of the effects by shear mass.

Very much please and thank-you.

5 years ago, I created a custom plugin "auto_release", which does what you're looking for. It was made for cpg1.4.x, but it should also work with cpg1.5.x.

It misuses the "keywords" field, where you need to enter the release date (e.g. 2014-09-23) and you also need to regard some other steps and prerequisites:
Quote1. set admin approval for admin uploads in group manager
2. log in as admin and switch to user mode (this is important! otherwise files will be released immediately)
3. upload files to your album(s)
4. switch to admin mode
5. visit the upload approval page
6. enter release date (e.g. 2009-06-20) in the keyword field
7. do not approve the files
8. save the changes

Then, the plugin will check each day if there are pictures in the release queue, adjust their upload dates accordingly and clear the keywords field.

Is this what you're looking for?

Just to make sure my ducks are in the right order, I will need to use a different account to post them so that I can run this function as admin afterward?

Yes, this does sound like something that would work just fine. Thank-you

Can't edit my post so I will have to double-post.

Re-reading the instructions, I have the answer to my question.  No, I don't use a different account, I switch settings, I think I did that once when my whole family was standing around my laptop so that all the extra buttons were not visible.  Correction, that is the "Hide Admin Controls" button.

I think I better confess, I don't know how to switch to user mode at this time.

I don't know how to switch to user mode at this time.
If the admin controls are hidden, you're in user mode. If the admin controls are visible, you're in admin mode.

The plugin was created to fit individual requirements as a freelance job. Currently the auto release feature would be just available to the user with the ID "1". There's a config array where you could add other user IDs, but keep in mind that only admin users can access the edit files form for unapproved pictures. Consider this picture as a hack, as it uses existing features (picture approval) and fields (keyword) and doesn't provide that functionality for non-admin users. If it fits your requirements, I will have a closer look at the plugin and try to release it publicly as soon as possible.

Of course it would be better to use a dedicated field instead of misusing the keyword field (including an interface) and also don't use the picture approval feature, so everybody could use that functionality. But as it wasn't required and it works as expected, I haven't developed that plugin further.

Estaban Maturin

Yes, that would work for me, I am the admin and user 1

I would appreciate this mod if you can make it available to me.

By the way, you should upgrade your gallery to the latest stable release (currentl cpg1.5.30):

Yes, I was noticing that yesterday.  I will have to do that.

I have it in place and 4 pics in the queue.  So far it is acting like you said it would.  Thanks very much.  I will watch for it's posting.

It should have posted three of the four pics by now and hasn't.  I followed the instructions given.

Quote1. set admin approval for admin uploads in group manager
2. log in as admin and switch to user mode (this is important! otherwise files will be released immediately)
3. upload files to your album(s)
4. switch to admin mode
5. visit the upload approval page
6. enter release date (e.g. 2009-06-20) in the keyword field
7. do not approve the files
8. save the changes

Was there some other bit I forgot, maybe a configuration I should have done once installing the pluggin?

There's no configuration, you just need to install the plugin.

What exactly have you entered in the keywords field?

Estaban Maturin

;D  I was screencapping it for you while you asked.

Maybe I didn't put the date in the right way around.

Looks correct. I haven't tested the plugin with cpg1.5.x, but will do as soon as possible.

Estaban Maturin

Thank-you!

Didn't know you could not post pics on this forum or I would have just put the link without the [img] stuff.  :p

You can attach pics, the options are at the bottom of the reply box. That is the preferred method as it preserves images for future reference.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Didn't work. :(   Could I be doing the date wrong on the keyword area?

The date format is correct (that's what I actually fixed in v0.2). Just to make sure, the plugin has been installed correctly?

Estaban Maturin

I think it is.  I installed it like before and like the other plugins.  There was no config panel that I saw.
