Verry silly: "Upload file"-link missing

Maybe I got 'tomatoes on my eyes' (as we say in German) but on my installation the upload file link is missing in the main menu.
Why is that then? I checked a thousand times now my config. 
I applied 777 to /albums and all subfolders.
I tried as admin and as testuser.
My version is 1.5.34
Can be found at http://www.zorbas.de/scripts/cpgGallery
When logging in with testuser/ usertest you have to go back manually to the above link as there is also an issue with the bridge...

Off-topic: I don't expect that any non-German speaker knows/understands that phrase But maybe I'm wrong
