Even about this topic I don't know it''s the right place.

It's about ecards.
Some of my visitors like to use this option regularly.
However, most providers don't allow anymore sending emails from accounts which are not on their server.
So I made in my cpg 1.5 version on pHp 5.6 a work-around by sending it (fixed) from my own account by making a change in the code of the ecard.php : ($ sender-email = 'webmaster@west-papua.nl').
2 questions:
1. I made the same changes in the cpg 1.6 version, but the server doesn't allow sending. Is there something changed in pHp 7.3, because I see no changes in the code of ecard. php?
2. Could it be an idea to make this change as an option, or  even as a standard within the cpg installation?

Sending email via PHP often needs things to be setup just right. Hosts typically have restrictions in place to keep their servers from looking like spam machines.
In CPG Config -> Email settings, make sure the admin email address is an email address with the same domain as your site.
In Information -> phpinfo, check to see whether there is an email address defined for 'sendmail_from'. If not, one may need to be set. Your hoster might help with how that could be done.

Sorry I see that this topic is made on the wrong place because no email at all is sent from coppermine.
No comments on photo's, no contactform, no ecards.

you are right with regard to the hoster. they created a strange condition to be able to send email from an application to prevent spam.
they modified this for my server.

I tested it with a contactform in joomla, (which I do not use normally, so I switched it off after testing) and indeed it worked.
But from coppermine none at all. Not even with the data of the hoster itself filled in.

On my sites and I'm sure on many other CPG installations, email functions as expected. Other than what I mentioned above, I'm afraid I have no further help for you without access to your site.

ChrisP.

Of course I can give you access. Tell me how? Per email?
This here is a little bit dangerous I would say :-)

You can PM me (envelope over the left). As a minimum, I would need admin access to your gallery. And perhaps access to your hosting account would also be eventually needed.

What your host had done that allowed you to send from joomla was to alter a PHP setting that uses sendmail for sending email. In your CPG config, I just removed the settings you had for smtp so sendmail would be used. I restored ecard.php and it should work okay now.

Thanks for the effective and fast service.
Thanks for solving my problem.

Kind regards.
