Sorting pictures issue

I use the "Batch add files" option for my gallery, but when they upload they upload out of order. And unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way of putting them back in order. I've tried config > Default sort order for files > Title ascending, but this doesn't do anything. I've tried manually sorting galleries via "Sort my pictures" but this also changes nothing. I'm at my wit's end. Does anyone have any ideas?
