Hello,
I have just installed 1.3.2 running with IPB 1.3 and it's all working great except for the fact that the e-card e-mails don't seem to be going out.  I tried e-mailing myself an e-card and though I get no errors sending it, and it tells me the e-card was sent, I get nothing in my e-mail.

I configured the following:

$CONFIG['smtp_host'] = 'ultimatesnowmobiler.com';
$CONFIG['smtp_username'] = 'username';
$CONFIG['smtp_password'] = 'pass';

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

I also tried the following with the same results.  Any help would be appreciated.

$CONFIG['smtp_host'] = 'localhost';
$CONFIG['smtp_username'] = '';
$CONFIG['smtp_password'] = '';

I also now just enabled the e-card logging to see if I could see anything there when I sent the e-card.  Now I get an error when trying to send that reads:
"Critical error
There was an error while processing a database query"

???

UPDATE:
Using the second configuration above, I tried sending a card to another e-mail address that I have.  That worked!  Hmmm...  The error still occurs when I have the e-card logging enabled, but I don't really need that anyway.  So it appears that maybe my first e-mail address, for some reason won't accept the e-card.  Weird...  ???

Anyway, it seems to be working... kind of.   ;)

I suppose it will depend on what ISPs have for spamware, etc. on their e-mail server?  Does the e-card come looking like spam to some hosts and therefore gets blocked?  I can't think of any other explanation.

Anyway, I guess I'm satisfied knowing this now.  The logging error, as I mentioned doesn't matter to me as I don't need to have the logging turned on.

Thanks!

Yes, the ecard has aspects that gives it a high spam score, although entering in an SMTP server should have reduced the score significantly.

Different hosts handle spam differently. Some block completely, while others send to a spam folder, or mark the message as spam for easy filtering.

The next version of CPG will include changes to lower the spam score. If you can't wait until then, and are comfortable editing files, you can do a search for 'ecard spam' in these forums and see how to reduce the spam score.

Thanks!  I'll try to see if I can find it (I am comfortable editing files).  I did a search, but only came up with this thread and one other that didn't give any info.  But I'll keep searching.

UPDATE:
I believe I found it in the Mods/Hacks forum.  I'll give it a try.

Did you do the search from within this forum? It took me a while to figure out I need to go to the home page of the forums to get a complete search of all forums. Anyway, here's the thread:

Hope it helps. :)

Thanks much!!!   I'll give it a try!  :-*

I made the changes...  same results.   ???

Okay, I went to my ISPs website and found they have a new spam filter.  I disabled it on my account and that made the difference.  So the spam filtering is the culpret!!  (Even with the mods).   Hopefully other people's spam filtering won't be quite so strong.   ;)

Do you have the spam analysis results? Do you know what they use to filter spam?

Use "advanced search" instead, as it will search the whole forum.

Sorry, I do not know what they are using.  Here's what their site says:  "LocalNet currently uses several methods to reduce the number of unwanted emails, or "spam", from reaching your mailbox. If you would like a higher level of spam filtering for your account, please click the "Add Filtering" button shown below."

When I click the "Add Filtering" it then says:  You have selected to have the highest level of spam filtering enabled for your email account. If you would like to turn off spam filtering, please click the button below.

I also do not know how to get the spam analysis results.   ???
