no email and no ecard

i have installed the new 1.42 version and in the moment it works fine, but i have one problem, i receive no email after sending an ecard oder register a new user. so the new user can´t be activeted automatically.
is there a problem with my webspace?

yes i have, but i didn´t fill in any information in the field for email, i thought that i need it, now i have the smtp for yahoo and it works, but now i have another problem with phpbb and coppermine, i post this in the correct forum.
