Installation of Mods

Is there any documentation on the proper procedure for installing mods?  I downloaded a mod for Advanced Search and it has no documentation within it.  I'm a little leary of overwriting the files with the ones in the download.

Where is the best place to download mods for coppermine.

There's a board dedicated to modifications: Modifications/Add-Ons/Hacks. Usually the mods come with instructions how to apply them. What modification are you actually refering to (post URL)? Afaik there's no "advanced search" mod. If you're trying to apply a third party mod (not from this site), you should ask for help at the place where you got the mod from, or at least post details on the mod.
