Random/last added, thumb to be displayed on the main site.

Hi, i am pretty sure that this can be done:

I would like to display a thumbnail of the last added picture (or just a random one) on the front page of my site. I did that with the news, and links on my site, it would be really nice if i could get the same effect with picture thumb.

Can it be done?
