I am also running SMF on my site but I notice on your index page that your post and topic totals on categories that contain child boards are displaying correctly.  On my site and categories that have child boards that contain messages total 0 (zero) in the posts and topics column.

Did you fix that or do I have a problem?

this is default behaviour of SMF, must be something you did that stopped making it work. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of SMF. For details, I recommend looking for support on the SMF support board, not this one.
