Last uploads on a separate page

Hi community!

I would like to switch off the "last uploads" stuff on my title page (I know how to do that, it is well documented), but instead put links to separate "last uploads" pages for certain categories on my homepage. Does anybody know how to generate a thumbnail page of last uploads? Maybe it is even a built-in functionality and I just need to know how to form a corresponding search URL to create a dynamic result page.

For categories : thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=<category id>
For albums : thumbnails.php?album=lastup&cat=-<album id>
