g'day,

i've been playing a while with coppermine..... i'm loving it even more by the minute... However i haven't figured out the difference between alblist and catlist.

'cause i want a list of my albums is if there where no categories, and onderneath it the catlist function without pics, but in txt. where the txt says: -->

Category:
Albums: names al the albums in this category

an example http://www.mathibus.com/pictures/index.php?cat=0

my site is www.widi.tk/gallery
using lasthits,1/breadcrumb/catlist/alblist as content for main page.

hi,
in admin mode, go into config, and turn this setting 'Show first level album thumbnails in categories', to NO.

That's it.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Widi

Yeah i got so far with the help of readme-file, but it still doesn't show the albums in text that are in that category. As in the example url i gave in first topic.

Also i still want it to show some of the albums that are categorised, as in alblist, as if there were not categorised. So they're stil ordered and displayed WITH thumbnail by pos.

Casper

Hi,
all Mathibus has done is give each category a detailed description.
to change the description of the category, just click on 'categories' in the admin menu, then click on the edit button for each category.
What you put here is what shows on the front page.

As for your second question, that will take some coding, if it's possible at all.

Just to add, you can use bb code to make the album names clickable within the category description.

example;

Albums; [url=http://www.widi.tk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=28]Close,Closer,Close Up...[/url], [url=http://www.widi.tk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=10]Blue di bi di da bi do Blue[/url], [url=http://www.widi.tk/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=1]Niteshots & UFO's ?!?!?[/url]

will result in
Albums; Close,Closer,Close Up..., Blue di bi di da bi do Blue, Niteshots & UFO's ?!?!?

But the albums willopen in a new window when done like this.

Aaah, that's how he did it... Smart lookin'
There are so many little functions in coppermine i sometimes get lost.

but thanks anyway for taking the time to look at my questions, really appreciate it.

cya.

PS. think this topic can be removed...  :D

Why do we need albums, if we have categorys?
Make it simple as vBuleltin 3., just parent categorys and it's 100% ok ...

Coppermine can be as simple as you like, but what you suggest won't suit most people.  If you have 500 pics of cars, 300 of motorbikes, 100 of planes, it is much easier to find the pics you want if they are seperated into types, makes, and then models, than if they are all just in one place.
