Hi there,

My wife was running a version of coppermine gallery for a hobby photographic gallery. It was hacked some time ago unfortunately and it is beyond my skills and not having time to resintall. I am afraid that I will lose the previous files and data.

I am hoping someone on this board(someone that a moderator can recommend or vouch for) can help restore the gallery and hopefully upgrade to a stable/safe version. I am naturally happy to pay for this assistance.

The website is www.microlightworld.co.uk

If someone can please contact me or someone make a recommendation, I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards,

Brad

You were running a very old version of coppermin (1.4.8 :o) where the current stable version is 1.4.19. That is why you have been hacked.

Yes, you could hire someone to do the job but new exploits may come in the future and you could then be in the same position.

It is really worth you taking the time to learn how to upgrade your gallery so you are not caught with your pants down in the future. Upgrading only takes a few minutes once you know how to do it.

As for your request for help, you need to post your budget for the work if you are unable to do it yourself.

Take a look at this thread and it might give you an idea of how long it will take and what is involved.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Thanks for your reply Phil.

Very good points, It is more a time issue. I'm not sure if my budget is realistic due to it being a hobby/non commercial gallery. I would think i'd spend about GBP 50.00 to get it up and running again, not sure if this is realistic. perhaps someone can advise.

I suggest going to: Looking for Freelancers / Paid help and read a little bit others post. Then post your offer ;)

P.S: Don't forget reading the sub-board rules first :)

After my post Phill move this topic here. I was thinking about opening a new thread as it should be.

Anyways, read sub forum rules and post again making the offer, then you will receive freelancers willing to make the job for you ;)

@Fabricio: moving is fine - even better than starting a new thread.
