Ok, cause I don't want to waste my time and get all this in order to post it here I'm going to ask beforehand.
The mod is creating a second set of thumbnails. I call them mini thumbs. You can set their width/ height as well as turn them on/ off in admin.
At first I used them for illustration reasons in my 'notifications on comments' mod. Then I've introduced an avatar mod. Useres can choose from their uploaded pics or they can upload an avatar. It gets displayed next to their comments, in their profile and when they send a PM. Also it can be useful if you eg. apply the forum mod or the buddy list.

I'll attach a few screenshots and here's the link to a working demo (hello GauGau, I've removed all adult related stuff and/ or blurred delicate parts). You'll have to register to check the profile. Here you find links to the avatar manager and the subscribtion manager.

Necessary for this mods would be all my previous mods

Looks very nice!  :)

Question: it's only for 1.3.x version or will be developed for 1.4.x?

I find the mods interesting - I am sure other people will as well... so the best course of action would be to post them here and go further as the users get interested...

I love the idea of the avatar mod. but would it cause trouble with a cpm and phpbb integration?

it's made for standalone and therefore using the coppermine user table. And you won't need an avatat mod when you bridge your coppermine. Nearly all bb support avatars. But with a few minor changes it's possible to make it work together with your  forum too

and OK, I'm going to post the mod in a few days. This time I won't do it as a step by step instruction but just prepare a zip with all modified files.

edit: I just have seen that there's a new howto for 'minithumbs' that's doing a html resize of the existing thumbs. I guess it's to complicated for the average user to deal with another jpg file on their server (I already have introduced a orig_ file with the watermark stuff and with that they'd have a mini_ too). So it's best for all who want to have an avatar or minithumbs to use the existing mods/ howtos... and less work for me ;)

But your PM system would be very very nice, as I tested it on your site =)
