If that doesn't help, you need to give more information on your system's setup. We're not mindreaders.

Hi Fusionfx,

In response to your PM, there is no php.ini file with coppermine. It's a file used for server setup. One of the requirements of using cpg is having a properly set up server, and if you have trouble with setting up your server, you should reconsider running one on your own. Lack of server administration knowledge could make your system vulnerable to attack if you also don't know how to secure it.

In any case, you can do a search through your computer for php.ini. There may be multiple files.

Please do not PM members of the dev team for individual support unless they say it's OK. The PM could have been posted here since it did not contain personal information.

leave it up to our decision if a topic is a "must read" or not. Why on earth should someone browsing the forum, looking for help on a particular install problem read your thread?
You did not only PM one dev team member (TranzNDance ), but me as well with the same question. Quite frankly: review your attitude!
Posting such subject lines and directly contacting staff members won't win you friends... >:(

i'm sorry for pm's i never read the signatures.it won't happen in the future and thank's for the help.
Actually i have a website on some one else server so what am i supposed to do if the administrator refuses to on the register_long_array.
can i use php4
if yes will coppermine work .
if possible let me know any free website host that has 100+ mb space and coppermine can be easily hosted.
any suggestion's will be greatfully acknowledged!
thank :)'s

Joachim Müller

If you have PHP5 and the webserver admin refuses to turn register_long_array on, you would have to use the code from the devel version of coppermine (which comes without support and is not recommended for production use yet, as it's still in alpha stage).
Of course you can use coppermine with php4, that's what 95% of all coppermine installs run under (rough guess).
There's a separate thread on the general discussion board that deals with webhosting, please take a look at it (there can be no general recommendations, as nearly every webhost offers a package that works with coppermine, and your needs may differ, as well as your location. As an example: I wouldn't sign up for a webhost in the US because of the time zone differences that makes it nearly impossible for me to contact someone in the US during regular business hours).

Joachim

P.S. Not reading before molesting people is a poor excuse, after all this is not a matter of what is written in our signatures, but using some common sense and a matter of attitude.

Also, by PM'ing different people, you make them do extra work if they all reply to you not knowing that you had asked someone else and received replies already.

fusionfx

do you think i should upload coppermine earlier version and then update it!
which version should i choose?

Joachim Müller

what should this be good for? You're advised to always use the most recent stable version, i.e. cpg1.3.2

You'll are the experts you must be knowing some way i can get my gallery going if i can't put on register_globals.
i need to get this gallery on .
plz help

Forget about "register_globals" - this var is not related to wether you'll be able to run coppermine or not, it will only create an unnecessary security risk. I don't understand why everybody is repeating this myth that "register_globals" is needed for coppermine to run. It isn't.

fusionfx

 your right
actually my problem is solved i just now re entered my values in the config file and guess what it worked .the installation was successful.
but i never still understood the reason for the failure in the first attempt.
bye guys.

fusionfx

i have installed the gallery.
now suppose the gallery is full with images i uploaded,is there any way i can provide links in the gallery such that only the images will be seen on my gallery but they will not get uploaded to my gallery space.indirectly something like hotlinking from gallery.
help me!

 >:(You have been told about the board rules before, I won't repeat them once more for you. Instead, I will lock this thread. Are you doing this on purpose, do you try to drive supporters mad? >:(

Here's a couple of 'MUST READ's' for you.

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/188612  when you get there, the page is rather busy.  Just click the 'Watch this movie' button.

Then, please read this thread fully before you post again, http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=2746.0
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here
