Hi and hello!

I have had installed the gallery successfully after big troubles with an other gallery.  :)

There are two problems which I could not solve:

(1)
I tried several times sticking to the FAQ from the gallery: How to prevent unregistered users from viewing the gallery. I added as written:

Quoteedit
displayimage.php
and search for
/**************************************************************************
* Local functions definition
**************************************************************************/

and add before it
if (!USER_ID) cpg_die(ERROR, 'You need to register to access this page', __FILE__, __LINE__);

Nothing changed. :cry:

What I would need: That there isn't even displayed a thumbnail. This shall be a rather anonymous gallery. Oh, NO NO, not anything "adult" - just for some dog people who want to be kind of anonymous.  8) Somehow like the "concurrence" 4images "offers"

(2)
The owner of the gallery does not want that users are more ore less automatically registered. She would prefer to be informed that some tried to register and then wants to decide whether this person IS registered or not.
I did not find any answer to this topic, but maby I read over it. Sorry.

And sorry for my English.

Maybe someone can help me. Thanks in advance!

Kind regards
Gerda

Hi,

1.  There is a modification you can do, that makes anyone not logged in go to the login page, so they cannot see the gallery without being registered and logging in.  See this thread http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=3503 .

2.  This is easier. Just log in, make sure you are in admin mode, click on 'config', and find 'Allow new user registrations'.  Change this to NO.  Now the only way someone can join is for admin to create the user.

If the gallery is part of site with other pages, you should put on there instructions for how to ask to be a member.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Hi "casper",

Thanks so much for your help and the URL to the modification concerning "anonymity"  :D I am sorry that I did read over that thread.

I have just installed the gallery again and will now make the modifications. I'll let you know when it works. Otherwise I might quarrel again.

Thanks!!!

Kind regards
Gerda

Hi "casper",

It's done - and it WORKS. Thanks so much!!!!  :lol: The owner of the gallery will be happy!  8)

What a great forum - if only everywhere users/moderators etc were that willing to help without answering to a problem "read faq".

THANKS.

Have a nice week, you and all the users here.

Kind regards
Gerda
