I have read the docs on integration, but that talks about putting coppermine over an existing board.  But what when you have coppermine running first.  Will I have to delete my database to install the board, or will the board take on the details already on the db.
I have not decided which board I will use yet, other than it will be one for which you already have a bridge.

This is my first time installing a php program, and so far have found it fairly easy, and very well done, but I am not a programmer, and dont always understand the posts about editing such and such php
And I also appreciate that the answer may depend on which board I use.

Hope you can enlighten me.  Thank you
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

if you have installed coppermine first and install a bbs later that's no problem at all. In the first place, there are two separate user tables: one of coppermine, one of the bbs (which is of course empty if you install from scratch). If you "switch on" bbs integration by choosing the correct bridge file and editing the include in init.inc.php as described in the readme, the existing user table of coppermine will not be deleted, but deactivated. All users that have existed with coppermine don't exist on your bbs, so you'll have to add them manually (or make the users register once more with the bbs). You can always fall back to the coppermine user table by "switching off" the bbs integration again.

Personally, I'm a YaBB SE fan: it's easy to set up, easy to administer and the bridge file works very well (maybe because the dev team bridge file expert Jack is a YaBB SE user).

Many thanks, that helps a lot.  :D
and Yabbse it will be, as I need things that are easy to do.

If you mean "Does Coppermine support yabbse" the answer is yes - it has just been forgotten in the documentation. If you mean Gallery (menalto) then the answer is: "I don't know".

hopefully: yes.
In fact 3 of the dev team are using YaBB SE on their homepages, and all 3 are looking forward to simple machines. I guess there'll be support for it asap.
