I have a flash video but it comes up as flash as a thumbnail. Is it possible to replace the image for that file with a picture of my choice?

Hein Traag

Replace thumb_swf.jpg with a picture the same size and to your liking.
Can be found in the images folder in the root of coppermine.

I don't understand how do change it.... I have the thumbnail and video already uploaded and in an album. What next?

btw I only want to change the thumbnail for that 1 video

Hein Traag

For changing the thumbnail of just 1 video the info in the manuall should work.

Upload a movie and batch-add it. Then upload a thumbnail with exactly the same name and also batch-add it.

So for example. homevideo.avi is the movie file. Upload it first and batch-add it and then upload homevideo.jpg (the thumbnail) and also batch-add that one.
If the manuall is correct then the video should use the same thumbnail as the likewise named thumbnail you uploaded.
Which is method number 2 in the manuall.

Casper

Not quiet, Hein, you do not batch add the thumb.  And you can ftp upload it at the same time as the flash file.
But just be sure to use the correct filename, which must be 'thumb_filename.jpg'

The thumb will then be used for the flash file, even during the batch add process.

Note, the docs are unclear on this, I will look into modifying them.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Got the picture now. Seems like a good idea to look over the thumbnail section again. My english is not that good but people with even less understanding of the language are having not much fun i guess  ;D

Need help in changing that part into something a bit more understandable ?

bart5986

I did what you said and once I had batched added them it said

Warning: getimagesize(albums/populous%20pictures/Promotional%20Art/copyrighted/thumb_popball.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /z/www/bart5986/cgi-bin/cpg132/include/functions.inc.php on line 1065

I uploaded popball.swf and thumb_popball.jpg

Joachim Müller

you mustn't use batch-add, you're just meant to ftp-upload the thumbnail file and that's it.

I uploaded the file popball.swf and put it in a album, then I ftp uploaded thumb_popball.jpg and it didn't work, I also tried thumb_popball.swf.jpg and it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Casper

Make sure the swf file extension is not in uppercase, and also make sure you have entered the file dimensions, which can be done on upload or using edit pics.

bart5986

its in lower case and the dimensions where entered.

do I need to ftp upload the swf file?

Joachim Müller

bart5986

nope doesnt' work still..

It says Warning: getimagesize(albums/populous%20pictures/thumb_popball.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /z/www/bart5986/cgi-bin/cpg132/include/functions.inc.php on line 1065

Casper

Ah, I see something that may be causing this, you have spaces in your folder names.

Try uploading these into a folder that does not have a space or unusual character in the folder names.

bart5986

hey, thanks it works!!!! :)

Maybe in the next version you could make this alot easier?

Thanks :)

Joachim Müller

sure, your advice please what exactly is supposed to make it easier, preferably together with some code improvements ::)

Joachim

what I was thinking is in the edit file menu you can select a custom picture from there.

Joachim Müller

but this picture would have to reside in coppermine's database already to show up in edit files, don't you agree? I must confess that I wasn't exactly expecting an answer to my previous question, it was meant to be a bit ironical. Sure you can come up with an idea how a page should look like and how software is suppossed to work, but you can't actually code it, so it's of little use.
You have given us a hard time on the support board, imo it's time you look into the thread We need your help and start giving something back  ;) (*hint*).
