I've modified the hardwired theme to look like my website.

This is my problem:

When viewing images in the large image viewer (at smaller screen resolutions), my visitors have to scroll down the page a little bit to see the entire image displayed.

When they click on the next button (top right of the viewer), the viewer displays the next image, but the page is repositioned back to the top of the page, and the visitor has to scroll down a little bit once again to view the entire display.

Is there a way to add code somewhere that would keep the page at the "scrolled down position" as the visitor moves from image to image without them having to use the scroll bar each and every time ?

I guess there could be an anchor placed at the top of the image box, and then add the anchor name to the next/prev links...

OK, here's how to do it.

Open up the theme.php file of the theme you want to use. (code has been corrected to work in IE)

FIND:

AFTER it, FIND the first:

REPLACE with:

It works quite nicely, if I do say so myself.

I did make a small change to your example and placed

Code Select Expand

$template_main_menu1 = <<<EOT
instead, so that my navbar always stays in view and appears at the top after each click

Have a look and see.

Also, I may be able to use this technique for other little adjustments as well - this will certainly be added to my little bag of tricks

I didn't test in IE before (but it was 2am my time when I worked on this). It's the same in both of our galleries, rvblog.

ok, I played around with it a bit and I believe that this is the IE fix:

I remembered another issue I worked on last year where IE did not like names that had more than one word.

IE seems to work ok with #topimage but not #top_image


I removed the reference to "id="topimageviewer" because it looks like that would only be needed if you had to style it for some reason.

I also noticed that in my album example - where there are 6 images - this code fix works for images 2 to 6 because the code fix is tied into the prev and next buttons

The first image in the image viewer still had to be scrolled.

So I backed up through the same thought process and added #topimage to the other code (in 2 places further down in the theme file) like this and it worked:

Now, when viewing the album list screen, when you click on any thumbnail, the image viewer in the next screen is positioned at the top like the other examples - so now, no scrolling at all is required.

Doh! I'm a doofus (still, it was 2am ). I forgot to rename everything.

It still didn't work, though. I tried the other suggestions, too.

What seems to be the problem is that IE doesn't like the empty <a> tags. So I put the tags around the first <td> and it now works. Works in Opera, too.

I did say which file to change. I only posted the parts of the file that was necessary to change instead of a completed file since people don't always have default, unmodded files.

Once TranzNDance told me about the "#whatevername" code, it's just a matter of playing around with it a bit - you just add it after the tag that affects the area that you want to position.

In my example (I started with the hardwired theme):

I added this code:

Just use the search feature in your php editor to find the appropriate tags in whatever theme you are using and from there.

@rvblog, the anchor isn't working on your site in IE due to there being nothing between the <a> tags... just in case you have visitors using IE still.

I don't know if this is related, but if I view source on your page, this is displayed:
<html dir="{lang_dir}">

but it should be this:
<html dir="ltr">

Verify you have this line in your theme.php file, in the pageheader function:
