cpg1.4.1 BETA released

We finally released cpg1.4.1_beta - you can find it in the download section of this site.
Please be aware that this new version is still in beta stage and only meant for testing. We do not recommend it yet for use in production environments. As it is beta software, there is absolutely no support for it - if you need support, you should still use the most recent stable version (cpg1.3.3).
There is a documentation that comes with the package (inside the docs folder) that should explain all details (how to upgrade from previous versions, what new features are in the package etc.).
Please feel free to download and evaluate cpg1.4.1 and help us improve Coppermine even more - there's a board where test reports or potential bugs can be reported: CPG 1.4 Testing/Bugs, but please make sure that you have read the documentation carefully before posting your report (all "bug reports" that simply are a result of not having read the documentation will simply be flagged as "invalid" without further explanation). Also, search the bugs board before posting your report/question to avoid identical threads.
As cpg1.4.x has lots of additional features, the language files have changed dramatically - currently, only the english language files are up-to-date (as they are the only ones that are being maintained during the development process). This means that some features will be available in english only, even if you have selected another language. We're sending out the cpg1.4.1 language files to the translators now, hopefully there will be feedback soon.

Joachim, maybe the download link for 1.4 on the download page should be more clear that it is beta. 'beta' only appears in the filename and people might not be alert to it. They would just click to download the latest version.

no, we can't. As in most similar products, questions like yours are being answered with "it will be released when it's ready". Remember: we're not a company with regular business hours, but a group of unpaid volunteers, with "regular" jobs, friends, family. The time we're able and ready to spend working on the project differs. Another factor that is hard to be determined in advance is the number of bugs that are being discovered after public beta release - if there are many of them, the release of the stable will be delayed. Questions like yours are being posted very often, so developers are reluctant to answer this question over and over again - you often get a harsh answer. If we knew a scheduled release of cpg1.4.x as stable, we would have posted it.

don't request support on this thread. In fact, there's no support at all yet for cpg1.4.x. The issue you have has already been reported on the bugs board and is being taken care of.

To those who want the final version out sooner, please test the heck out of 1.4... the sooner bugs are found, the sooner they can be fixed. It would be even faster if you can provide the fix. Before reporting, please go through the reported bugs. Or go through the bugs board to see if you can contribute to fixing open issues.
