I have created a custom group where it is able to upload to public albums while the register group i want to have only private albums. when i go to edit the groups when i select the register group to Public albums upload NO then they cant upload neither to private albums cause the Upload image link in the menu gets lost. I have to allow Public albums for registered members to Yes in order the registered to upload pics but then they can upload pics to public albums which i dont want. Visitors can upload files for the public albums is set to yes .Any help ?

gallery is at http://www.hairtransplantphotos.net

test login test/test

here are my permissions

Nibbler

Use album properties to control upload rights.

Konstantinos

there is a problem here. The problem is that when i set in group Permissions Registered members Public Upload to NO they cant even upload private. The dont have access to update.php.  No matter what i set to album properties

Nibbler

Set Public upload to YES, and then disable uploads to the public albums in album properties.

Konstantinos

this will work for the registered users. But i want 2 custom groups that i created to be able to post pics in the Public albums while the register wont. This is something i cant do

Konstantinos

it seems to be a bug and u need to check it. when i set registered users public uploads to NO they cant upload NOTHING. this isnt what it should be like. U cant have registered users post in only public galleries and a custom usergroup to upload in ALL categories.

Stramm

expected behaviour
-If you don't allow registered users to upload to public galleries and they actually can't do that then this is pretty much perfect.
-If you create another usergroup and give that groups members the permission to upload to public albums and they are able to do so... cool. As it should be.

Konstantinos

when i apply permissions to album Visitors can upload files then the registered users can upload too. this is not what i want, i want ONLY the custom group to be able to upload files in public galleries and registered groups to upload ONLY private. can i send to someone my admin login to check it out ?

Stramm

can't replicate your problem.
I've two groups, registered and test
registered: 'Public albums upload' no
test: 'Public albums upload' yes

test can upload, registerd not

Konstantinos

when i set for registered users Public uploads to NO they CANT even upload to PRIVATE ALBUMS, The upload link is gone and they dont have access to upload.php

Joachim Müller

the test user account you posted in your initial posting doesn't work for me, so I can't replicate your issues.

Konstantinos

#11
try test with pass 111

Stramm

#12
I've deleted your admin login.. don't post that publically and better to change it asap

I've seen what you mean and it needs looking into. Have replicated that behaviour on my own test install
moving to bugs board

Stramm

after having a quick look I've seen that's actually the way cpg handles upload permissions. Would mean some coding top achive the desired effect.
Maybe something to consider for future versions??

Konstantinos

will there be any bugfix soon ? i cant launch my gallery since i cant apply the permission they way they should be

Nibbler

This isn't a bug. 'Public albums upload' in 1.4 in the same setting as 'Can upload files' from 1.3. It's a global setting.

Konstantinos

well as i said i can not do what i want. I want registered users to be able to upload ONLY to private galleries and custom groups to be able to upload in ALL categories. and this is something i can not do . Stramm said the same thing

Stramm

I suggested considering to change that behaviour within the next version. If you really need what you've written above then core code in several files needs to be changed. That's not done in a few mins

Konstantinos

So i guess the best thing whould be to have 3 settings for upload permissions per group

a) Can upload pictures ?
b) Can upload to public albums ?
c) Can have personal gallery?

if b is set to No for registered users and set to Yes for a custom created group then registered users will be able to upload only to private albums while the custom group will be able to upload everywhere. i think is something important...

Joachim Müller

permission issues are very complex - having some checkboxes or radio buttons on a screen where you set permissions is pretty easy. Creating the needed background (core code) with queries etc. is quite complex. Different permission models have been discussed on the developer-only board. We're not quite sure what will be realized in future versions. I'm not even sure that this is going to go into cpg1.5.x, but rather in the distant future.
