Hello,

Very sorry for asking such a newbie question, but I just can't seem to
grasp how I can do this (or if I can do it at all):

I want to use Coppermine to create personal albums for people. However
I want only the administartor (me) to be able to create and modify thier
personal albums. When they login they only see and have access to thier
personal albums.

Does that make sense?

For example - say I have users who want me to post pictures of thier pet
each week. So each week I a batch of pictures (an album?) of thier pet,
but I don't want anybody else to see thier pet.

So each person would have thier own little private area with just pictures
of thier pet.

The important aspects are that they can't modify thier own albums and
that they see only thier own albums.

Any help or pointers to achieve something like this would be much
appreciated. Thank you so much!

Casper

Hi jvarnes,

yes, it can be done.
First, set in config, 'users can have private albums' to YES.

Say your first user is A.  Create a new Group 'A', in the group manager, and set the permissions to view only(no personal album etc).

Now create user A, and put him in group A.

Now create an album named 'A' in the user galleries category.  This gives you ownership of the album, and set the view permissions to 'members of group A' only.

Now, set the 'show private album icon' to NO.  You will not see these albums then, but you can still upload to them.  Be sure to create an album for yourself.  To edit the other albums, click on the edit pics, or the properties box, next to your gallery, then just click on the top dropdown box, and select the gallery you want to edit.

There is a mod available for admin to see all albums on the main page, and it will be in the next version.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

Casper,

This works great!

Thank you very very much! I'm still very new at this - so I really appreciate the help! If I run into trouble I will post another question, but this seems to do the trick for now.

Thanks
