FOR YOUR REFERENCE, I HAVE ALREADY DONE WHAT IS SUGGESTED AT THIS LINK AND IT DID NOT HELP: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO DO IT AGAIN. ALSO, WHEN I SEARCHED THIS BOARD FOR THE ERROR MESSAGE I AM GETTING THE SEARCH QUERY TOLD ME MY SEARCH WAS NOT SPECIFIC ENOUGH.

My coppermine was working fine until a few days ago. Nothing on the server has changed. I am now getting the following error message:

Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.

Anyone know what the deal is? Image Magick is still working properly outside of coppermine. This is my gallery:

I tried GD1x and 2x. Neither works. The brain-numbing part of this is that everything was working fine until a day or two ago.

I've gotten wind, however, that it might be something server-side. I'll let you know if I can't get it sorted out from there.

Sorry to come in here all angry-like, but I'm really frustrated, and you guys really don't help noobs out, in the posts I've read.

Please fix your search function...

You should read the link you posted again. If you really did as suggested there you'd have posted not only a link to your gallery but also a username/ password combination that allows supporters to test the uploading process.
The search isn't broken. There are just to many results. Try other combinations

Tranz

I think the same error shows up when there are punctuations in the search query. Try removing them.

Sami

Do as Stramm suggested and post a link to your site with test (non-admin) user
also enable debug mode

There's a test accound, named test with password test. Go for it.

ShadowElven

Still screwing around with this thing, nothing has changed except that for now it doesn't appear that the file even gets uploaded. Anyone looked into this thing and seen what's wrong?

Stramm

The albums folder needs to be chmodded 755 or 777 (depending on your server setup). Also all folders in the albums folder... especially the edit folder

ShadowElven

All of the chmoding is, and has been, correct. I just double-checked it for you. Still getting the same error.

Joachim Müller

Checked or re-applied? Don't trust the CHMOD status your FTP app might display.

I could check your files and setting, if you happy with that, give me gallery admin account and a ftp account by PM

I am experiencing the same situation at this time, but first, I'm about to try the suggestions here:

http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble

Will let you know what the story is.

Do so, but in your own thread - stay out of this one! Don't try to hijack threads that may or may not be related to your issues.

bmossavari: No.
Not a clever move: bmossavari is a very skilled supporter with an excellent reputation. It's very generous of him to offer individual support. Turning down the privilege to be allowed to PM him for individual support is not very wise. Of course this is entirely your choice.

GauGau: Reapplied.
OK, so did the situation improve? I'm reluctant to find this out on my own. You could have chosen the easy way by accepting bmossavari's offer to help you... :-[

twitchy

Hey GauGau..
You need to learn what customer service is.

If you haven't learned yet, it doesn't involve telling someone to go somewhere else for support of the product you offer support for.
My gawd, I was told that this should be the last place for support of CPG, but I had to be stubborn and say "naw, it couldn't be that bad"

BUT *beep* ME was I wrong.
great modifiable product, yet you have such a terrible support system.

signed,

eternally ungreatful for your useless reply.

I'm not going to argue with you, as you probably won't read the references that I could post to the board rules, FAQ, documentation that would tell you that your attitude needs reviewing. I don't have to learn what customer support is - at least it won't be you who teaches me: coppermine is an open source app - you didn't pay a cent for it, so you're not our customer. All people here are volunteers who spend their time on this project without getting paid. We set up the rules on this board for the benefit of the community, and you agreed to respect them when signing up. Yet you don't.

You have two options:
  • You don't even bother to reply and stay away to find support somewhere else or use another product. Fine by me - nothing gained, nothing lost.
  • You actually are looking for support here. Then it's mandatory that you review your attitude and read the board rules.
To give you the time to decide for one of those options and do the mandatory reading, and to keep you from replying this instant with yet another flame, you're banned from posting for two days.

In the searching I did of this forum before I ran across someone who had given an admin account to someone else, and had they gallery hijjacked and destroyed, that's why I didn't jump on the opportunity to give admin access to someone I don't know.

I can't give you ftp access, as it doesn't exist on my server. We use ssh and scp to do things, and I can't give you that either, as I only have one shell, don't have the permissions to make another shell, and my shell has permissions that my system administrator would not be happy with me giving to a stranger. I have access to people's files on there that do not belong to me, and I can't give that access to someone else.

If the offer still stands, and if it would be useful at all, I can make an admin account for you bmossavari. But I can't give you ftp access.

Sorry if I was vague, but I reapplied the chmod and I still have the same problem. I'm not new to chmodding, I've been a webmaster for quite a while, and have experience with *nix. I know the permissions are set to what they should be. And again, the gallery was working before. The permissions didn't get changed.

Sami

I did want ftp account to , double check your albums and all subfolder under that for permission (777 or 755)
and I did want admin account to check your Method for resizing images and change it to GD2
please double , triple ,..... check them the error indicate that you have missing some of those
