Hi All,

I want to create a folder inside an album.  I have a set of photos that I want to split into 5 different folders.  I want to keep all of these in the same album.

How do I go about creating numerous folders inside a specific album inside a category?

Thanks

DJ

You can create sub-categories to sort your images.  This is done when you click the Categories button.  You can define a parent category using the drop down selection boxes on the right (Move Into).

Something like this:

Fruits & Vegetables (Main Category)
  Fruits (Sub Category)
    Apples (Album)
    Pears (Album)
    Peaches (Album)
  Vegetables (Sub Category)
    Corn (Album)
    Beans (Album)

The term "folder" applies to your webspace (files and folders on the hard drive of your web server). The term "album" is something in the navigation structure of coppermine. Those two things don't have to be related - when using FTP-upload and batch-add (as an admin), it's recommended to make the category/album structure in coppermine match the folder structure on your web space, although it is not mandatory.
It simply doesn't matter what folder (web space) pics are in. The coppermine database keeps track of the location of files, the human doesn't have to keep track of it.
Coppermine doesn't move files around once reference to them is in the database, so imo your question is just invalid (unless you meant something different - if yes, then post details with real-life examples, i.e. deep links).

OK just to clarify...

I understand the structure folders on my webspace and albums in the gallery.

My question is if it is possible to create albums within albums in the gallery.  For instance...

Category: 2006
Album: New year 0506
Album: My Birthday
Album: New Car

The 2006 Category contains 3 albums.  Each album has numerous files/photos in it.

Is it then possible to create a 'Sub Album' under My Birthday so that...

Category: 2006
Album: New year 0506
Album: My Birthday
    Sub Album: DayTime
    Sub Album: NightTime
Album: New Car

I understand the concept of subcategories (I think!), but when I create one it shows as a bar on the front page, where as I would like it to show just like an album does.

Any further ideas?

No, Coppermine doesn't have the feature to have sub-albums. You can nest categories indefinitely. Categories can contain sub-categories and albums, but albums can only contain files. No workaround existing.

OK thanks.  Will have a think about if I want to reorganise my album as differnet categories.
