SiteGround.com, a well-known Coppermine host, recently released several Coppermine themes you can download and use for free. One of the most popular coppermine themes that SiteGround created is called BlueArt. You can check the demo of BlueArt, here:

http://coppermine.siteground.com/siteground5/

I hope you will like it.

Thanks for letting us know about your theme - we like contributions like yours and encourage webhosts to promote their webhosting offers with additional themes or similar goodies.

Are we allowed to add the themes you offer to our demo (together with a note that those themes can not be found in our downloads section, but only on your pages)? This way, your themes would have more attention and you would have the additional benefit of a promotional link to your pages.

We believe in the power of open source and welcome companies who make legitimate use of open source apps like Coppermine.

Joachim

P.S. You're welcome to post an ad for your webhosting offers in the thread "Web Hosting for Coppermine photo Album?" as well

SiteGround

Hello GauGau,

Yes, we would be happy to have our themes featured on your demo. Let me know if you need any assistance on our end to do this.

In fact, there are three ways for the Coppermine community to download our themes:

1. Directly from our Coppermine themes' page, here;

2. We have prepared special download links for all our Coppermine themes. I would be happy to include them here in the forum;

3. To provide you with the zip files of the themes in order to include them in your download section;

Either way works fine for us as long as the Coppermine users would be able to freely download our themes.

Please clarify what license these themes are released under.

Joachim Müller

All I could find on the license are the SiteGround Templates TOS, which basically cover these aspects:
Quote
  • The Template User may use any of the SiteGround templates for as many websites as s/he wishes free of charge. In return the Template User agrees to keep the links to SiteGround that are part of the template.
  • PSD or any vectorial files are not provided as part of the templates. However, the Template User is authorized to make any modifications to SiteGround templates to fit his/her needs better except for removing the SiteGround copyright mark and the links to SiteGround.
  • The SiteGround is the sole owner of the templates copyright and the Template User may not claim any intellectual or exclusive ownership to any of SiteGround templates, no matter if it is modified by you.
  • The Template User may not offer any of the SiteGround templates, modified or not for redistribution or resale of any kind without prior written consent by SiteGround.
  • SiteGround cannot guarantee that the templates provided will be compatible with all versions of the software application they are designed for.
So, you could basically say: free to use and modify as long as the link stays intact. Mustn't be reditributed though.
@SiteGround: correct?

Joachim Müller

I went through the downloads (which is not very user friendly btw; once users have signed up they should be able to download all themes directly without having another email being sent to them with the exact download URL) and have come up with modified versions of your themes that feature a different footer text and added them to our demo. In fact, this has been quite time-consuming, as I had to rename all of the themes and make sure that all references within them pointed to the new theme names. I corrected some minor issues as well. Please review http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/index.php?theme=siteground_adventure and use the theme navigator at the top left of the screen to browse through all the other themes. Please review the the box I added at the bottom of your themes that contain some text like this:
QuoteTheme information: unlike the others themes on this demo, this particular theme named "Siteground Adventure" can not be downloaded from the coppermine download repository, but only from the Coppermine Themes-section of the theme author SiteGround web hosting
If you approve this way I modified the themes I will come up with an announcement thread as well. If you dsiapprove or want to see something changed, please let me know as well.
Once everything is as you expect it to be, I will send you the changes by email to allow you take advantage of the slight improvements I made.

Looking forward to your comments.

@SiteGround: do you approve my changes and the way your themes appear on our demo page? Please give us feedback; I wouldn't want to violate your TOS.

SiteGround

First of all I would like to thank you for the changes you have made to the themes. I certainly would like to know more about them so that we can correct them on our website. You can send me an email at the email address I have used for the registration here.

The demo versions of the themes looks great. However, we would be willing to have our themes included in your repository so that the Coppermine users would be able to download them from there as well. I might send you an email with the zip files of all themes and the correct links at the footer. If you agree to place the themes on your download section I believe this part would not need to be included in the demo
QuoteTheme information: unlike the others themes on this demo, this particular theme named "Siteground Adventure" can not be downloaded from the coppermine download repository, but only from the Coppermine Themes-section of the theme author SiteGround web hosting
If you prefer not to include to include them in your download section you can leave the demo as it currently is.

Joachim Müller

Thank you - this would be even better if we're allowed to offer the themes in our downloads section. I did as you suggested and sent you the modified versions by email. If we're allowed to offer them for download, the original footer you provided will of course be restored. I suggest adding a readme file to each theme that explains that your theme is not being released under GNU GPL, maybe even with the full text of your TOS. Of course you're welcome to come up with some promotional text in the readme as well.

Cheers

Joachim

SiteGround

Hello Joachim,

I have received your email with the themes' fixes. Our designer will review and apply them within the next several days. Once he is ready, I will send you an email with the zip files of all themes. Each of the files will include a copy of our TOS so the users would be free to review them. Let me know if there is anything else we need to do on our end in order to have the themes included in your download section.

Once again, thank you for all your assistance!

Regards,

Silvia

Joachim Müller

Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to the reviewed themes. There is no issue that comes to mind that needs fixing.

I try to download skin from their site put name and email. I recive email from them but it's blank whitout any data or link where to download theme for coppermine.

Joachim Müller

We can't help you to figure out how to download the SiteGround themes. All I can say is that download worked for me as expected and I got the emails fine.
If this doesn't work for you, please contact SiteGround, not us. Another option would be to wait untill SiteGround reviewed the themes and make it available here for downloads.

@Siteground: I have created an announcement thread for the theme "SiteGround Adventure" - see http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=46970.0
Could you please create similar threads here on this board (a moderator will then move them accordingly) for your other themes, so the credits go to you? Thanks in advance.

Joachim

P.S. If you don't want to start the announcement threads yourself, just let me know - I'll start them for you then. Feel free to add notes (e.g. on the TOS) if you want.

The siteground demo still features cpg1.4.10, although the most recent stable release currently is cpg1.4.13. It's absolutely mandatory that you (siteground) update your site - it will give a bad impression to your users if you should get hacked because you were reluctant to update. The update is easy to perform. Afaik Hein already suggested to upgrade your demo - he is definitely right in this aspect: upgrading is mandatory no matter what!

Hello GauGau, Afaik Hein,
The name is "Hein". Afaik stands for "as far as I know" and is not the first name of a Mr. Hein.
