Hi,
I am having a problem when a user uses the crop/rotate feature.  I've recently changed the code as per the bug fix thread, and that worked great, but now when a user uses the rotate feature it turns the image to completly black.  It only happens when the user rotates either -90 or +90 degrees, but not when they rotate 180 degrees.

For the moment I switched back to the old code that disables the permissions to use the feature, but would very much like to find some resolve as to why this is happening.

Thanks
Joey

I am confused by your response.  Does this mean you want me to attach a copy of the black image that is created when someone tries to use the rotate feature?
Thanks
Joey

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

8. Post links
When posting a support request, it's helpfull for supporters in most cases to see what the actual page looks like, that's why it's mandatory that you always post a link to your coppermine gallery page when asking for support. If your site contains adult content, make sure to post a warning together with your link!

Supporters might get into issues if they accidentally visit a page that interferes with their employer's internet policy. If your site contains adult content (even mild nudity even falls into this category), post the words "not safe for work" next to the link.
Mind the usage of the word "mandatory". You agreed to respect board rules when signing up, and a compressed copy of the board rules (named "Posting rules") are being displayed for you whenever you compose a message (at least as long as your post count is low). You're being told about board rules and don't even bother to read them properly after having been told to? Hm... Not a bright idea if you expect supporters to look into your issues.

You could have just said please post a link to your site my friend.  You did not tell me about the board rules, you replied to my question with a link to the board rules, which I did not understand the response and I apologize.

My coppermine is at http://tradingcardspace.com/coppermine [Edit GauGau] Warning: link not safe for work [/Edit]

The issue seems to be working now for whatever reason, maybe it was a resource issue on my machine, I dont know.

I was not trying to aggravate you or anyone else, and I did read the rules, I just did not understand your initial response to my question.

Thank You for your responses and I will try to be sharper for future needs.

Regards
Joey

Well, I haven't just posted "post a link" for a reason. I have refered to the board rules, because there's more to it: you need to post a warning as well together with the link if your site contains material not safe for work. When I visited at least one such image showed, so I edited your posting accordingly.

First of all, you need to upgrade - you're running cpg1.4.10, while the most recent stable release currently is cpg1.4.25. All older versions have flaws that are actively being exploited, so you're in great danger of getting hacked (or you already might have gotten hacked). Seems like you haven't read the docs, did you? ::) There is a reason why maintenance releases come up, and I'm quite fed up having to tell each and every poster who asks for support the same thing: about the need to upgrade. We will not look into your issues if they might come from your reluctance to upgrade.

Joachim,
Would you be so kind as to point out the material that you consider not safe for work that you say you found in my gallery?  I have just gone through every image in the gallery and cannot find a single one would that I would categorize as such.  The closest I could find was a girl in a bikini.  Had I felt that there was that kind of material, I most certainly would have placed the warning as well.  The gallery has pictures of trading cards of a universal pop culture nature and that's it.  In the future I will always post that is contains questionable material as I cannot be sure what might be considered offensive to administrators such as yourself I guess.

Your responses seem to come across as very harsh, curt and berating, so I most certainly will try to make sure I am as up to speed as possible for future help inquiries so as not to offend you or the other administrators here.  I do apologize if I am not as up to speed as you feel I should be.

I am again sorry that users like myself have made you 'Fed Up'.  I am but only an end user using this wonderful software that had a small issue that I did not understand and came here to request help and assistance.  I guess I am the wrong level of knowledge and complete understanding maybe to be using this software and will consider other alternatives as we grow.

Again, my apologies for anything that I have done or my lack of knowledge or comprehension that has offended you.
Regards
Joey

I'm German and therefor I don't share the same cultural background. Where I come from, even not-so-mild nudity (topless women) is not being considered "not safe for work". However, I have learned from both my fellow devs from the US as well as my colleagues at work (I work for an US-owned company) that even mild nudity falls into the category "not safe for work" as far as most americans are considered. I'm being told that "babe shots", swimsuit pics etc. fall into that category as well, and the regular web filter applied by my employer does exactly that: it filters such shots. I didn't actually look into your site in details: I just found one image that fell into the category "mild nudity" on the initial page visit and told you about board rules. However, that's not what I'm here for: you put me into a position where I seem to have to defend myself and justify my actions. Quite the opposite is the case: it's not up to you to be so demanding, as I don't owe you anything. I told you about the rules and that's it. We catter real porn here as well: as you can imagine, there are people who use coppermine for real pornography as well, and we ask them to post a link as well together with the warning. This being said, I'm not afraid to see some adult pics or videos when taking a look at a coppermine-driven gallery for support purposes. You wasted another precious 5 minutes of my life by making me justify what I said instead of just swallowing your pride, saying "sorry" and going on. As far as I'm concerned, you have spent all the favors that I'm ready to spend on a complete stranger by forcing me to write this lengthy posting, so there will be no more support from me for you.
Revisiting your site for a second time and refreshing the random meta album 3 times I found three (1 2 3) pics that fall into the category "not safe for work", so your lame excuse that you could only think of one image in your entire database does not apply. You appear to be located in the US as well, so imo you should be aware of what appears to be bigotry from a European perspective, but from the perspective of an American appears to be "political correctness".
Please stop all meta discussion now and return to the subject of your thread.

You have utterly ignored my advise to upgrade immediately: instead of writing your reply you could just as well have performed the upgrade - you'd be half through it by now. ::)
