Hi,
first i want to compliment the makers of this great stuff. I just upgradet from 1.1. You dod a lot of work  :D

My question.
I have one category and one album.
Users have to click from startpage in my opinion to much to come to the album.
Is there an way that the go directly from the startpage to the album.
The url of my site is: http://www.amsterdamzuidoost.net/kunstopenbaar/index.php

thanks vermy much and keep up the good work.

sure, albums don't necessarily have to be in categories, so you just move your album(s) to the *no category* (root).
This is how: log in as admin, admin mode, go to the category, click "properties" next to the album thumbnail, choose "*No category*" from the dropwdown field "Album category", hit "Update album" and you're done. Verify that the album is where it's supposed to be and remove the superfluos category, using the "categories" link from the admin menu.
This is all described in the documentation that comes with coppermine, please read it before posting.

If you are only having 1 album, there is no need to have it in a category.
You can move the album to *no category* in the album properties box.
Then copy the category description to the album description.
Then delete the category.
The album will now be on the front page.

In config, change 'Number of columns for the album list' to 1.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

thanks, and i did worked out the documentation and searched the board, but i misted in one of the other way. maybe the langua cap thanks again  :)

bijlmer

he i am again.
I checked the manual and your answers ofcourse.
Is it possible that in the upgrade the old category menu is still there from the older version, because my category menu looks more on the old one, than you descripe in the manual.

If needed, i can give you access

Thanks

Joachim Müller

make sure to have updated all files on your server with the one from the cpg1.3.0 package.

GauGau

bijlmer

i did the whole package but i will check, wich one could it be?

bijlmer

i did the update again, no error messages or something like that, still the new menue does not appear, it seems to be the old menue.
Any idea?

thanks

or an other way to solve the original question

Joachim Müller

I don't understand: what menu is supposed to be there?

GauGau

bijlmer

i the think the category control panel, in my set it looks different than in the manual

Joachim Müller

then post a screenshot how it looks, as it's only accessible for you as admin.

GauGau

bijlmer

looks fine to me - there are small layout differences from theme to theme, temporarily switch to the classic theme that comes with coppermine if you want it to look exactly the same as in the documentation. The screenshot in the documentation you're refering to of course shows the category structure of an example gallery, with some categories like "Oberservatory Galleries", "Outerspace Galleries" etc. created just for illustration.

GauGau

bijlmer

oke thanks.

How to solve the change to the front page in no category what was the original question wil you explain it to because in one of the other ways it does nog seems to work for me

Joachim Müller

I don't understand, please re-phrase your question.

GauGau

Casper

I think we have a language problem here, so I have gone back to the first question, and below are instructions how to move the album out of the category.

First, click on the albums properties button (see pic 1)

Second, use the category box in the albums property, to move the album to *no category* (see pic 2)

Next, click on 'update album' (see pic 3)

Now, go to the category page you show above, and delete the category.

You are using the wrong manager.  The screenshot you show is the manager you get when you click on the 'albums' in the admin menu.  This is where you create and order albums.

Please look at the first pic in my post.  You need to click on the 'properties' button next to the album thumbnail.
