I followed all your instructions, but my main concern was to fix the "vanishing edit folder" problem, and it seemed to work for a long time (cause the edit folder hadnt disappeared in the longest time), but today for some reason it happened again 

What else could be causing the edit folder to disappear?

this has absolutely nothing to do with the thread you posted on.  There has been a lot of discussion on this in the uploads forum of the 1.3 support, with at least 2 threads with fixes posted.

Huh?  I never said that:

Actually, you should use the albums path that's in the config settings instead of hardcoding it.

If you haven't changed the location of your albums directory the fix should work just fine.
