lol im the biggest noob at this so please bare with me, but currently using the hardwired theme.

i would like to change the header (the image on top)

add another background?

and, add a small picture next to each main catogerie , like this site has ( www.gobritney.com )

You can add your own headfer in the theme/template.html.  Just use standard html code.

You can add a category thumbnail in the category manager, by clicking on the edit icon for each cat.

sure, do as Casper suggested and edit template.html. You can add anything there, flash or non-flash.
