How do i select it so that my albums listed ina certain category are listed int he same fashion as the one at http://gallery.tu2.net/ (Thu, i hope you don't mind me using you as an example)?

I read all the documentation and i played for hours but i can't figure it out. What would be even cooler would be to be able to list certain categories by thumbs as i have it now (http://www.winokur.us/gallery/) and then have other categories like Thu's. As you can see, i have the categories split by years. I would liek to have the new 2005 stuff (when it comes time) to be how i have it now and the 2004 just text.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

if you have questions you can email me at Justin (at) Winokur (dot) us

Just go into config, and turn off 'show first level albums in categories'.

You can't have one category showing and another not, at least without some code changes, which afaik have not yet been posted.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

What Thu has on his site is nested Categories with album thumbnails turned off.

on the coppermine config page:

Under Album List View, show first level album thumbnails in catagories: setting it to no will no longer show the album thumbnails.

You can optionally assign thumbnails to each catagory. From the admin menu select Categories.

Click on the "E" button for the category you want to add a thumbnail to.

It's the last option on the page.

You can control the nesting of categories by using the "Move Into" field under the Category configuration.

If you want to conditionally show album thumbs on some categories and not others I think you're going to need to find a mod.

I don't know if it matters, but I have Show first level album thumbnails in categories set to Yes.

The trick is to put categories into categories, and have no albums in the parent category. All my big categories contain subcategories, but no albums of their own.  Thus, there are no albums to show under the categories. Check out my big categories like Landmarks, Nature.

So, what you need to do is reorganize your albums and categories. I don't really know what to recommend since you would need to use a system that makes sense to you. You could have a big category by years and then by topic, or vice versa where you have types of events and subcategorize by year.

Then adjust Number of levels of categories to display the number of subcategories you desire.

PS. As long as you don't use my site as an example of what not to do, I am flattered. ;)

Thu, you need to update your site.  It tells visitors you are a 'Contributor'.  ;)
