This is really excellent. I love this software and thank the authors for making it so good. Check out this new creative open source experiment started with Coppermine last week on: http://www.perplexmi.com/coppermine. Let me know what you think, and participate as well!   :D

We now have almost 6500 pix in our gallery; http://www.bymnews.com/photos/index.php all sorts of boats from sailing dinghies to megayachts plus watersports from windsurfing to ocean racing.
I've just changed the album list to have 5 in each row, as regulars were moaning that it was taking a long while to scroll down with just 2 in each row. I also changed to the default template today, to keep loading time down to a minimum.
Now I need to upgrade Coppermine.  ??? I've been putting it off because I installed it with Fantastico, but I cant upgrade with it. The pix take up 1600+ Mo and we have 4000 available, so with the rest of the stuff on the server Fantastico cant back up. So I'll have to bite the bullet, backup to this laptop and do a manual upgrade! ::)

We highly recommend manual installations and upgrades. You don't really need to backup the media files for upgrade purposes since the upgrade doesn't touch the album folder. However, for sanity purposes, you should have a backup in case of server failure or human error, etc. ;)

Tks for that, I do back up the database to my laptop daily and my ISP backs up all daily; its just that Fantastico automatically wants to create a backup on the site. I expect once I've done an update I'll say "What was a scared about!" ;)

Hi All! I'm brand new here, and just spent all of yesterday redoing my entire photography website using Coppermine1.3.3 and DaMysterious' kaki theme. I made a bunch of modifications, mainly to "brand" it and change the colors, but I really dig the layout of kaki and ease of use of CPG! I'd love if you could check it out and let me know what you think, what tweaks or changes should be made, etc.

But first...

1. I know the splash page sucks. I'm going to redo it today, pending approval from DaMysterious to use the kaki layout for the rest of the site (which is actually just two pages, the splash and "about". They desperately need changing.)
2. There aren't many photos up yet- I have tons to go through and get ready for upload.
3. I'll be adding the Paypal mod soon(ish) so I can sell prints from the galleries. Rawk!

Any other suggestions and opinions are welcome. Thank you!

edit: even though I haven't yet heard back from him, the entire site has now been modified to fit the kaki theme and I gave DaMysterious credit at the bottom, just to be safe! I'm really diggin' the look now.

I just started a thread with a link to my photography galleries, then saw this thread. Oops.  ;D

Anyway, I'm brand new to Coppermine and just got it up and running yesterday!

Open your themes/scrappin/template.html and find;

{GAL_DESCRIPTION}

And change it to;

<a href="http://www.scrappinwithgrace.com/" title="Home">{GAL_DESCRIPTION}</a>

Please ask support questions in the support forums.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

After about a few weeks of tweaking and fiddling with the standard install of Coppermine 1.3.2, I've finally got my site looking just how I want it :)  It's alll different kinds of photos, from holidays, days out, photos of my pet cats, etc..  It can be found here:

http://photos.edgladwin.com/

I installed 1.3.2 using fantastico, then added the search engine friendly upgrade from hamaraphotos.com.  Then I added my own "about me" and "contact me" pages, added the mod to let you change the thumbnail sort order individually for each album, and then just added and removed little things on nav bars, menus, etc., to get things looking exactly how I wanted.

I also decided that I didn't want to use the full search page, so I added a block at the bottom of the main page which lets people view all photos of a certain type, i.e. all landscape photos, all wildlife photos, etc..

Thanks for taking a look at my site!  If you do ;)

I have recently set up a site for the members of my town to create a online community forum and gallery.   I'm looking for suggestions.  Things I should do and things I should not do.

Thanks for your feedback

here is the site, click gallery on the menu to get CPG

We have set up a community website for a community in West Wales - the website is in Welsh. What we found was that if the info is easier to find here than anywhere else then people will use it eg. bus timetables, phone numbers for local electricians, plumbers, shops etc.   As this info is static and we want people to return to the site time and again there is also changing content - eg. an events calendar using nuke, photo gallery using coppermine, and also info like church services, football fixtures etc. The site is on http://www.dyffrynaeron.com and the gallery is on http://www.dyffrynaeron.com/llyfrlluniau, but you won't understand much of it unless you speak Welsh!

Coppermine was translated to Welsh for the purpose of using on this site, and thankfully Welsh or Welsh/English coppermine galleries are now being used by a lot of organisations and individuals.
