the name "windows-1251" hints that non-windows users may have problems; I'll test it on my linux box later - maybe some Mac users could give feedback as well...

That's why everyone should use UTF-8 :D It is the only way to see everything on all platforms. A friend of mine did lot of testing with various cyrillic (Serbian) code pages on different platforms. Windows-1251 works on all major platforms -- Windows, Mac, Linux, but it fails on Solaris and SGI; ISO-8859-5, on the other hand works on Linux, but it requires additional settings on Windows (especially on Win 95/98/Me), which most people do not know how to make.

So only "true" solution which works on every platform is using UTF-8.

Now, regarding Russian UTF-8 translation and others that I mentioned that are broken. Here is why it is broken and how it looks (at least in my browsers -- IE and Opera 7):

(https://coppermine-gallery.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mikis.org%2Flang%2Fcpg-russian-utf8-bad.png&hash=6016c9e13b0e1704d06d6f0697fcf1031bb0c3b8)

And here is how it should look:

(https://coppermine-gallery.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mikis.org%2Flang%2Fcpg-russian-utf8-good.png&hash=32a46b31e030c1dab8d4f73c863b15053e895065)

I made "proper" Russian UTF-8 version and put it here:

http://www.mikis.org/lang/russian-utf8-ok.zip

so you can download it, compare it and see what is wrong (I made it by converting Win-1251 version to UTF-8 with UltraEdit, and changing "$lang_charset" to UTF-8 ).

Russian sites doen't use UTF-8, not now.
Nice to see the good old windows-1251 thing.
Is there anybody from the Baltic states, who
made the Latvian translation?

admin please read!

Hi all!

Recently I found that in CPG 1.2.1 there is NO polish language support yet and decided to change that! So as an effect of my efforts please feel free to download zipped translation from my homepage, unzipp to your coppermine basedir/lang directory. now you are able to change language setting to polish, using coppermine configuration menu.

IMPORTANT: I have found a bug in HARDWIRED THEME: notify that in template.html file of this theme there is a string:

<html dir="{lang_dir}">
<head>
<title>{TITLE}</title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset={charset}" />

instead of (my correction):

<html dir="{LANG_DIR}">
<head>
<title>{TITLE}</title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset={CHARSET}" />

Which means that language and charset of the page will NOT be displayed because of wrong VARIABLE USE. Please repair this.

Move this post to the Modifications/Add-Ons/Hacks thread plz.
Feel free to add this translation to the current CPG distribution.
Cheers  :)

moved/merged pluszak's posting as requested to the thread that deals with translations. I'll add it to the demo and downloads section asap. Thanks.

Hi!

I've translated CPG into catalan language.

http://www.aditel.org/~royo/script/cpg.1.2.1.catalan.zip

(edit) I've got the same problem that the old french language file: I can't create albums with catalan language set...  could you fix this??

Congratulations and thanks for this excellent gallery!

Joachim Müller

Thanks for your contribution - I think I fixed the issues you had by adding some extra backslashes in the translations for the JavaScript alert boxes.
Get the catalan language file for cpg1.2.1 - browse the catalan demo

P.S. I added you to the tester group (will give you access to future non-public pre-releases). Currently, we're preparing cpg1.3.0 for final release - care to do a translation for cpg1.3.0 as well?

simkin

Thanks for fixing it, now it's working correctly. :)

Great, please reply to the thread cpg1.3.0-translation thread and assign catalan translation to you. There's a translator's guide that comes both with the english language file for cpg1.3.0 as well as the cpg1.3.0beta4 package.

Hi
I prepare persian language(Farsi) for coppermine 1.2
How can I uploade it to language list?

Casper

Post a link here to the file, and one of the devs will put it in the download section.

We are close to releasing version 1.3.0, would you be interested in doing that for us?
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

the file you uploaded is encoded in utf-8 (although the name says something else). The encoding in your document says it's is "iso-8859-1" (which obviously isn't so).
Using http://www.iconv.com/iconv.htm I wasn't able to convert the encoding to iso-8859-6 (which is what I found out to be used for farsi usually).
The workaround appears to place the file you sent along into the language folder of coppermine, where it will be treated as "regular" file but internally it's utf-8, which seems to work with most browsers, but I'm not too sure. Could you do some research on this and upload the file in "regular" iso-8859-6 instead of utf-8 as well?
For now, I'll add it as-is to the download section, together with a note linking to this thread.

Persian/Farsi for cpg1.2.1 can be found in the language download section: Download - Demo

Thanks for the submission - you've been added to the tester group.

I made a mistake.
I forgot to change the encoding on the file.
That is utf-8
I am going to prepare  v1.3 persain language file.
I,ll do that better :wink:
