i removed my old coppermine gallery that i was having some issues with and i installed the latest. i have since found out that the DB is differant enough to cause some errors. How can i go about getting my old data into the new tables as well as the images that go with them.

Thats all well and good but the old data resides in a mysql export and on my computer. The server installation of the gallery was deleted as was the mysql data. I can't upgrade because the install is the most up to date version of coppermine. I would like to take my back up and the sql and get it back into the gallery. but i guess this is made even more difficult because i have already let users upload new pics.  :(

That was indeed a bad move.

You have three options:
  • Keep things as they are (equals a fresh start from the moment you let your users in on the fresh install)
  • Restore your backup -> everything your users uploaded and did so far will be lost
  • try to manually merge the backup and the new data -> you'll need to be an expert to accomplish this, not recommended
