Just removed and copied CMP over the provided instal from Globat host, as per info taken from this forum. The full undoctored version has beeter features, particuarly when uploading lots of pics.

So I followed instructions created a subfolder in albums called "upload" and ftp some .JPG files to a subfolder in this new upload folder.

Checked CHMOD and set permisions to 777 for "upload" folder, sub-folder and files.

Logged into CMP and proceeded to "Batch add files".

Choose upload directory then sub-directory and OK to file list - no problems

5 files ticked for import, choose just 1 for testing. Thumb nails to right of file name not visable. Double click opens full size image.

Choose appropriate album and select "Insert selected files"

Adding new files into gallery page appears, lists correct folder, file and album, but the image to the right does not appear (result column). Check album and nothing appears. Message on adding page says to be patient, how long should i be patient for?

Any ideas?

Still trying to get files uploaded to photo gallery.

Read through doco, tried a few things without success.

I have been trying to run through the recommended steps for checing upload, it seems that the file upload from web is really fussy about the file it uploads. I though it may have been the the size and I have tried uploading a variety of different sizes, all .JPG format. I thought maybe it was bombing out at about 100kb file size, but then tried another slightly bigger file and it went through ok.

Max file size is set to 1024. Seems to dropout after 30odd seconds, returns a web error "404 Not Found error"

Batch add file will bring smaller files across also, but not files that are about 700-800kb.

Not sure if the 2 problems are related.

It seems to me that the issues in these posts are very closely related...

...pehaps it has something to do with the JPG format

Installed on a Globat server, installed their version of CMP before ripping it off and putting full version on.

On upload some file, (jpg, 200kb) webserver returns:

Please contact the server administrator, root@gilligan.globat.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Could this be a problem with my webhosting provider. I've been scanning around trying to find answers, and I get the feeling that it may be because of my hosting provider not allowing the memory_limit to be set beyong 8M.

Because it is a shared hosting environemnt, I can't get into php.ini and change any of these settings. 8M seems kinda stingey.

Would the 8M memory limit still affect batch transfer from ftp upload? If so I think  Imight give this webhost the flick.

I know this boad is not the place for it, but it sorta flows on...
I use Globat www.globat.com, I assume based in the US.
Does anyone else have any good providers that will give as good plans as Globat, but with more flexabilty? Don't care where its hosted, I'm in Australia, so it could be any worse that the local providers here.

Cheers.

yes, the 8MB memory limit affects the batch-add process. Don't use the script provided by globat, they have hacked coppermine beyond recognition, introducing bugs and not respecting the license coppermine comes with. Instead, use the only genuine coppermine version we provide. However, this will not solve your memory limit issue. As a solution, resize the pics on your client before uploading.
