Is it only possible to let them create their own categories or can I somehow change an option that allows them to create albums in all the categories I've set up?

Abbas Ali

Has been asked many times before. Please search before posting. NO, users cannot create albums in categories other then their personal gallery.

P.S: This is a feature in cpgNG (which goes unsupported) if you want to checkout.

so what exactly is the use of categories then? Well, thanks, I'll try to Find this cpgNG, in case I won't find it, can anybody tell me where it is?

Joachim Müller

cpgNG is only meant for experienced users and goes unsupported (as suggested). Stick with the most stable release if you don't know your way around.
Please read the docs (come with your package and are available online, link at top of this page).

Categories are meant for admin to create albums.

Ok thanks, too bad though, I was hoping to create a photoalbum-site for me and my friends with the pics sorted into categories, without giving all of them admin-rights

If you read the responses to the previous requests, you'll see that more granular permissions are being considered for future versions of Coppermine.  cpgNG is such a future version, and some permissions may make it into a version before cpgNG, but there's no guarantee.

We (the devs) all realize that such permissions are an oft-requested feature.

ok, well I think it's great you do take suggestions in consideration, well done
