Anyway to override the default command when you set a password in a specific album it automatically changes the viewing of the album to "me only".  Anyway to change it so that everyone can see the album (like under the catagory) but to view the album they need to enter the password?

No, as suggested in the docs:
QuoteNote: when setting an album password, the permission dropdown field "Album can be viewed by" will be switched automatically to "me only" - this is expected behaviour. If you change the "Album can be viewed by" to another selection, you must disable the album password as well.

RTFM: Show private album Icon to unlogged user

In the future, ask one issue per thread after having read the docs and searched the board.

I did ask ONE question and I did read the documents and search the board before asking.

hi

just installed 1.4.8, made it use imagemagick and tried first pictures in private, password protected folder.....
this private thing confused me, too.
- got the "show icon"
- got the password protection.
so what's it?
* just as installed
--> the album icons are shown, when i call for example http:/...../index.php?cat=10002
--> if i don't know the cat-nr, i won't find any icons ( or i just have to count from 10000 up ?)

* set the visibility from 10002 to zero (in phpmyadmin)
--> this album's content is visible to everyone, without password (all thumbs anywhere)
--> other albums are passwordprotected _and_ easily located by "usergalleries"

so to ask one question ;)
is there a "mixed" configuration, with password protection of folder as well as folder-listing under "usergalleries" ?

remark
i believe that if i want to give someone information about my pictures, i can send the full link ...?cat=10002
and tell the password for a special folder.
maybe the problem disappears, if i have something in a public unprotected folder?

well, i'll see....

kind regards, dragon4
