Hello .... To start off with I have been trying to solve this problem on my own all week.  I've tried all the methods I could find, and read as many threads as I could look up.  I can tell you get a lot of frivolous cries for help before people truly try to fix it on their own.  I can assure you I have done everything I can ...*sigh*

Our Main Photo Gallery:  http://badgersden.com/Gallery/cpg144/
Our Family Gallery: http://badgersden.com/MaysFamily/Gallery/cpg145/

that being said here is my issue:

1) It started with this type of problem which I was able to fix and get both my galleries working once again:
    "Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !
MySQL said: Access denied for user: etc etc ...
I followed the instuctions and fixed the mysql username/ password in  include/config.inc.php and both galleries started working again just fine.

2)  Went to upload photos Tuesday into my main gallery and I cannot login.  I read all about allowing cookies, clearing internet caches, etc and none of it has worked.  We have tried to Login to both galleries on 3 seperate computers and it's a no go on all 3.  After logging in it takes me back to the main page.  The closest issue I found that matches mine is: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=32407.0

The message at the login page reads:  Warning your browser does not accept script's cookies  -- This is new and never appeared before.

Since everyone keeps recommending to upgrage I downloaded and installed 1.4.8 ... ran the update.php in the main gallery (http://badgersden.com/Gallery/cpg144/) and it looks like it didn't do anything.  I cannot check my version because I cannot login.  ** If the upgrade stuff counts as a seperate issue I apologize and will address that after my admin login issue is resolved.**

I'm at wits end ... I've turned off all firewalls, allowed everything under explorer setting you can do, cleared the internet cache (all on 3 seperate computers) and nothing works ... Powweb (our webhost) migrated our servers a couple weeks ago .. is there anyway that has affected our login?  I also tried to find how to change the cookie  but was at a complete loss...

Anyhow, I know this is a lot of info, and probably some of it not relevant - but thought I'd be as informative as possible.

Help???

Thanks in advance -- this program is really great

- your galleries still running 1.4.4 & 1.4.5!
- you should try upgrade them by reading doc
‍I don't answer to PM with support question
Please post your issue to related board

As I had said I attempted to upgrade exactly as those instructions then ran the upgrade.php ... it didn't work as far as I could tell.... but I think i need to figure out why I cannot login in at all first.  Ideas?

If you have login issues, it would be helpful to have a non-admin test user account that you should post here.

for the login troubles... I'd suggest changing your cookie name http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_cookie

if you can't login anymore, then change the cookie name with a tool like phpmyadmin. In that tool click on your coppermine database, browse to coppermines config table and click on browse. Find the entry cookie_name and change it to something valid (no special chars but only letters, numbers and underscore)

Badgersden

Ok ... i changed my cookie name ... *finally figured that part out*  But it is still not working.  I have everything turned off, I'm working on another computer and while it still lets me login, and says "welcome" etc it then takes me back to the default unlogged page.  And I'm still getting the "Warning your browser does not accept script's cookies " message.

While I am seeing having a test user is a good thing it's not something I thought of when I created this gallery.  The whole point was just for me to be uploading pictures and there was no need to have other people having an account.  As I cannot access admin at this point, is there another way to create a test user?

You still haven't updated your gallery. If you view the source in your browser you can see the version number at the end of the page. At the top of the page you can see lines of whitespace. This is why the cookie are not working. Updating to 1.4.8 may fix this, depends where the whitespace is located. Check any files you have modified for blank lines either before the <?php or after the final ?>

Badgersden

Yes, I viewed the source and at the bottom it says 1.4.4 .. howevor I uploaded the 1.4.8 files, followed the insturctions exactly, etc ...and it didn't work.  When I go into view of any of the files in my coppermine database it this is what I see:

********************************************
  Coppermine version: 1.4.8
  $Source$
  $Revision: 3116 $
  $Author: gaugau $
  $Date: 2006-06-08 00:11:54 +0200 (Do, 08 Jun 2006) $

The update.php file (which also has the above info) said the database updates were either "OK" or was "Already Done" -- what have I done wrong?

OK .. during an "aha!" moment i went and checked my FTP stuff .. when Powweb migrated the servers something about the FTP changed too ... although I was still uploading my website etc just fine when I used my CuteFTP to work on the Coppermine it wasn't updating .. dunno why but anyhow ... changed to the right FTP address, uploaded 1.4.8 and presto - now I can see it and I'm not gonig crazy....

But it still doesn't work -- I ran the update.php and saw a lot of 145_ stuff .. was that right? wouldn't it be 148_  ??  But anyhow, now I get this mesasge:

While executing query "SELECT * FROM cpg145_config" on 0
mySQL error: Table 'BadgersDenGallery.cpg145_config' doesn't exist

Now I went in to config.inc.php and noticed that it was pointing to 145_ ...  using logic I changed it to 148_ to see what it would do.  All of a sudden I now have a gallery, can login etc .. but there no settings, no photos, etc .. it's like a brand new install. I put it back to 145_ and am hoping someone can advise.  I have over 900 photos and lots of categories, etc .. I really don't want to redo it if I don't have to.

I also went into myPhpAdmin and saw alot of different files for 143_, 145_ and 148_ .. didn't touch any of them btw ..but I'm getting more and more confused the more I learn.
